I also found this thread that sort hints at the ffs history: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/o9v6nm/statement_from_core_team_on_rehrar/. 17:47:23 geonic knows all about the FFS but uhm, 17:48:27 you mean these things here? https://forum.getmonero.org/22/completed-tasks 17:49:52 https://github.com/monero-project/meta/blob/master/FFS , not sure about chatlogs 17:50:09 nioc 17:51:08 fluffypony: 17:51:18 around here, we dont hide 17:51:33 ask who you need to ask 17:51:43 dont have to be an outsider 17:53:34 That is exactly what I was looking for! I had found some logs here: https://www.getmonero.org/2020/07/19/monero-dev-meeting.html and I searched the github repo here: https://github.com/monero-project/monero-site/search?o=asc&p=2&q=ffs&s=indexed but the logs only go back to around 2016ish? Thanks for the link 17:57:03 ofrnxmr: thanks for the rec 17:57:12 . fluffypony How did funding work for monero early on? I know that you and others got a team together and rewrote & analyzed the bytecoin/bitmonero codebase and did a bunch of other work. How was this work funded before the ffs was created? 17:58:05 and btw there is an mrl meeting about to end 18:07:27 back in the old days work was not compensated and people paid for the expenses of infrastructure, such as they were at the time, out of pocket 18:07:40 there was an effort to get the community to donate to core and people would get different names for different donation levels, oh boy :D 18:08:15 to get the community involved as opposed to the just a few, the FFS was created 18:09:23 ^^ memories of a senile person 18:11:56 why did you wake me up plowsof11 ? 19:28:45 DGoon[m]: You may want to check the Bitcointalk Monero thread 19:29:01 It was one of the main places of activity for Monero 19:29:13 Before the meeting logs there was a different format, I don't remember the name exacty 19:29:16 exactly* 19:29:49 Monero Missives, found it 19:29:51 ^ DGoon[m] 19:30:58 https://www.getmonero.org/blog/tags/monero%20missives.html 19:32:36 dEBRUYNE: thanks a lot. This is a treasure trove of interesting stuff. Moneros ticker used to be MRO ..... 19:33:13 np 19:33:41 dEBRUYNE: You mean this bitcointalk thread right? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.0 19:34:09 Yes 19:34:20 There is also this one, but more price related -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.0 19:34:41 I’ll have to check those threads out later 19:34:45 Thanks for sharing homie 19:39:35 np 21:27:24 DGoon[m]: may i ask what the research is for? 21:49:16 I was just working on a thread about how monero was able to fund all of its work with donations while most other coins needed a dev tax or premine etc. And how that leads to a much more decentralized coin not dominated by for profit companies. Id maybe tie this in to how this decentralization allows it to be adopted by people who need privacy the most such as the dark markets and north Korea. When most coins with a CEO talk down on 21:49:16 those uses cases. It's just a draft so far so I'm not 100% sure yet. 21:51:08 I was also thinking about how someone should write about Moneros history also. There is some stuff about the bytecoin/bitmonero transition, but it's been almost ten years and I haven't find a good overview of Moneros history. Just an idea. 21:51:40 s/Id/Idk/ 21:59:27 https://yewtu.be/watch?v=lPFr5iqlGBw https://yewtu.be/watch?v=olGIzybdrAA 22:00:35 nioc sorry to wake you again, but do you have any involvement in with those wine bottles behind flufflypony in the early history video above 23:18:12 "I was also thinking about how..." <- Honestly I’d love to read a research paper that goes the entire timeline of monero including it’s birth. The white papers should 100% be a source as well though 23:31:23 Bible 23:31:29 * Monero Bible 23:33:41 also this from johnr365 https://resilience365.com/monero-timeline/ 23:35:51 Thank you,
