16:52:00 Hey I'm starting on adding a matrix guide to the community section on getmonero.org 16:52:04 just had a few questions 16:52:05 So correct me if I'm wrong, but the index.md file uses syntax like : {% t team.core %} to connect to the information in the .yml file (monero-site/_i18n/en.yml) file, so I would have to provide all of my written information in the .yml file, and link to it using the "{% %} " syntax 16:52:05 Also, should the matrix guide be located in the community/hangouts file? 16:56:50 Be prepated to wait till someone who knows is around and answers. Might take a while. 16:57:19 No rush, just wanted to contribute to open source and this was the first project on the list. 16:57:32 Talked to a few people in the monero-dev channel and they pointed me here 16:57:53 just going to try to figure it out myself and clone the repo, play around with it in localhost 17:00:43 If it's your first time, then welcome :D and one word of warning: one of the big differences between corporate and free software/open source is that in the latter, people usually contribute when they want to. 17:01:38 Just saying before you get frustrated in case you didn't realize this. Some people seem to find this a hard shift to get used to. 17:01:53 Yeah I understand, most of the people contributing have full time jobs and don't have the time to make all of their time available for open source 17:02:02 thank you ! so far the community has been awesome and very helpful 17:02:08 The good thing is, you can also contribute whatever and however much you want to and stop when you want to :D 17:02:59 Yeah I think it's awesome, you get the experience of working on a team with version-control in place, but it's more laid back and no deadlines 17:14:44 Do you work full time as a software dev moneromooo 17:17:35 there is a matrix guide already (currently an open PR) https://deploy-preview-1962--barolo-time-757cf9.netlify.app/resources/user-guides/join-monero-matrix.html 17:18:15 Yeah someone posted a monero.space link in the open issue.  Are you saying that someone already made a pull request to add it to the main site? 17:20:15 yep its pull #1962 17:20:20 shit 17:20:25 okay time to start over lmfao 17:20:41 maybe you could review it? what if your guide would be better? :) 17:20:54 who takes care of merging and closing issues? I see a ton of issues that seem to have been resolved but the issue is still open 17:21:55 It seems decent enough, don't want to redo it and waste the time spent on it by the person that started the PR 17:29:53 I used to. I still owe the monero community some work, but I burned out and I'm very very slow going through it. 17:30:23 I'm getting better though, I've started working on my game again, so I might step up to monero work again. 17:56:56 Yeah I feel you. I started a company about 2 years ago and quit my full time job in the trades. I'm very thankful for being able to quit the dangerous job I had, but it's been so mentally taxing and I've definitely burnt out. 17:57:20 I sold it about 2 months ago, and decided to work on some open source to pad my resume and get some more dev experience before applying to some other companies
