18:26:27 hello people, i have tried proxying my node through i2p with this guide: 18:26:27 https://docs.getmonero.org/running-node/monerod-tori2p/ 18:26:27 however even when i replicate it perfectly (checked everything multiple times) 18:26:27 it doesn't seem to work, does anyone know why? 18:33:05 in my i2pd webconsole, the monero-node tunnels also shows the port as 0 instead of the specified 108085 18:37:04 i suspect i am messing up the ports, not very knowledgeable about them 19:25:23 You have the correct ports set in the config file? 19:26:30 @jpk68:matrix.org: in i2pd’s config? yez 19:30:07 You will have to have a total of three things created; two hidden services and one client tunnel. The client tunnel is just allowing monerod to proxy through i2p via SOCKS on port 4447. Than the two hidden services will have to be a standard server, using localhost and having one port set at 18085 and the other set at 18089. I [... too long, see https://mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/pI7JjagLY2ZKeXRO ] 19:30:42 @muffin:catgirl.cloud: Sorry, I'm not able to tell what the issue might be from that info :/ 19:31:20 Port 18089 will be the public one, while 18085 and 4447 are used in your monerod to allow for connecting through i2p 19:32:19 @ricky.i2p:matrix.org: the .dat files point to the same location on the document i sent, so its the same b32 address 19:32:38 Mine are two different addresses 19:35:49 This my monerod, note it also includes the onion connection at the end which you can omit: /monerod --prune-blockchain --data-dir ~/.bitmonero --rpc-bind-ip 127.0.0.1 --rpc-bind-port 18081 --restricted-rpc --rpc-restricted-bind-port 18089 --rpc-restricted-bind-ip 0.0.0.0 --confirm-external-bind --public-node --anonymous-inboun [... too long, see https://mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/jJrejagLN0VNWE0w ] 19:37:25 Available via: http://jhrbosx7cmc2qiemgi4q3cdgfehbzwh32bx3caau25a6watfzz6a.b32.i2p:18089 19:39:36 @ricky.i2p:matrix.org: oh i might not have enabled --public-node, is that why? 19:42:45 https://mrelay.p2pool.observer/m/matrix.org/jTLXPdqRDkoFekmBhaZZWHHD.png (Screenshot_20260906-153856.png) 19:43:55 If connecting via Monero.com or Cake Wallet, you will have to have the I2P or I2Pd application running in the background, and have the SOCKS5 proxy set on the remote node connection in the Monero wallet app 19:44:29 https://mrelay.p2pool.observer/m/matrix.org/jtRqgcXJFrkNhkrMUaFQxAwo.png (Screenshot_20260906-154407.png) 19:44:34 https://mrelay.p2pool.observer/m/matrix.org/cNIxLPeczRbMUbgIUqNfHqlq.png (Screenshot_20260906-154405.png) 19:52:06 @ricky.i2p:matrix.org: yes, i did that 19:54:44 > <@ricky.i2p:matrix.org> This my monerod, note it also includes the onion connection at the end which you can omit: /monerod --prune-blockchain --data-dir ~/.bitmonero --rpc-bind-ip 127.0.0.1 --rpc-bind-port 18081 --restricted-rpc --rpc-restricted-bind-port 18089 --rpc-restricted-bind-ip 0.0.0.0 --confirm-external-bind -- [... too long, see https://mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/6sOjjqgLQXExYUxh ] 19:54:44 For this monerod command, the b32.i2p address shown is the 18085 hidden service port. It is my understanding that both the 18085 and 18089 tunnels/ports will have to be two separate b32 addresses. It may not work if both use the same address or DAT file 19:57:21 The 18085 tunnel you don't have to backup the DAT file, as you can just create a new one and point it to there if need be. The 18089 tunnel/DAT is the one that would need to be backed up if you want the remote node address to stay consistent 20:09:55 @jpk68:matrix.org: i2pd webconsole is weird sometimes 20:10:54 @muffin:catgirl.cloud: no 20:11:35 it could be working and just requires more time for the route to be established > <@muffin:catgirl.cloud> hello people, i have tried proxying my node through i2p with this guide: 20:13:04 will need more info about what "doesnt work" mean 20:13:19 the node doesnt start? you cant connect a wallet? what isnt working 20:13:34 the webconsole doesnt show the tunnels? 20:15:29 @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: the node does start, the webconsole shows the tunnels except the node’s port is displayed as 0 20:16:08 i can’t curl the info as the documentation mentions and can’t connect a wallet 20:17:39 @muffin:catgirl.cloud: for both runnels? 20:17:41 both tunnels* 20:19:40 and does your monero node have --rpc-restricted-bind-port=18089? 20:22:34 Because it has like 9,000 different ways to leak memory > <@ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i2pd webconsole is weird sometimes 20:29:06 @jpk68:matrix.org: i mean, one one host it shows all of my tunnels with port:0, and another host it shows thee ports that ii binded 20:29:25 so i would assume that the webconsole is a red herrind 20:29:32 and the real test is if the rpc is reachable 20:52:39 no, the rpc shows fine > <@ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> for both runnels? 20:53:12 it does not > <@ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> and does your monero node have --rpc-restricted-bind-port=18089? 21:02:12 Liquid just got hacked, possible by using a bug in confidential amounts. Does monero use the same tech? 21:03:12 @atori_0xbdc3ab4e:matrix.org: where do you get the confidential amounts part from? 21:03:37 what is liquid? 21:04:55 that custodial adam back later 1.5 or whaever 21:05:01 layer 21:05:27 oh, between exchanges or..............whaever 21:06:32 no idea but i saw they got hacked 21:06:43 4k btc 21:06:47 "we are whitehats. contact us on chain". 21:06:47 TXID: 21:06:47 c103de95817b43f2df635ec6f35ff126ca26a7c6d20570c4b01866b2b3e69a19 21:06:59 what a joke 21:08:10 custodial hmmm 21:10:13 "We are aware of a security incident on @Liquid_BTC 21:10:13 . Did we base our tech on liquid tech? > <@ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> where do you get the confidential amounts part from? 21:13:27 yes, but what does that have to do with the hack? 21:13:36 confidential transactions was done by adam back 21:14:06 it was never implemented on bitcoin, and was implemented on monero instead. ringct 21:14:21 we didnt base our anything on liquid 21:14:22 @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx How many XMR do u have, IF i may ask. 21:14:36 but we did use a form of confidential transactions 21:14:46 @yusufkhan:matrix.org: 60000, give or take 21:15:11 all obtained illegally, i might add 21:15:39 Oh Really?, Cool U might as well be Elon Musk with that amount of XMR 21:15:50 OH Illegal U say. 21:16:06 Thats sad 21:16:16 SAD! 21:16:27 Many such cases 21:16:35 its only illegal in 1 or 2 countries in the world 21:16:48 and they are both in the southern hemisphere, where i dont live 21:17:07 Hmmm. 21:17:44 Did u buy or Mine them? 21:18:07 And if so Solo or Pool. I would love to know these if youd like 21:19:17 @yusufkhan:matrix.org: depends on how quickly you want to see rewards, or how consistently 21:19:55 you could mine a block tomorrow, next week, or 2 years from now. if you solo mine, you accept all of that variance and potentially not getting anything for years 21:20:13 but you also could hit a block, or multiple, in a short period of time 21:20:30 if you p2pool or pool mine, you get regular, predictable payouts 21:21:27 if per 10 mins or so a block is mined and a pool is mining for 10 mins but if a solo miner finds a blocl will the pool get nothing? 21:21:51 blocks are every 2 mins. yes the pool will get nothing if a solo miner mins the block 21:22:12 the solo miner gets 100% of the block reward and transaction fees 21:22:30 Hmm 0.6 XMR right. 21:22:33 yes 21:22:49 What did u do, Solo or Pool? 21:22:54 solo 21:23:24 but thats because, when i i was mining with phones, i was lucky and hit blocks far more often than i should have 21:23:26 Cool! Hardware info, so i could get some kind of guide 21:23:51 so im happy with the variance, and if i dont mine any blocks, its ok.. especially in the winter 21:24:30 confidential transactions was done by adam back <<>> I thought it was greg maxwell 21:24:41 nioc, youre probably right 21:24:47 Can i mine on 1Kh/s and hit a block? is there a chance? 21:24:48 my ai is faulty 21:25:07 my senility is working well 21:25:13 @yusufkhan:matrix.org: yes there is a chance, but there is also a chance that you wont 21:25:40 so if you just run it, and walk away, and check back in 2 years, you could have hit 1 block, 5 blocks, or 0 21:25:43 @ofrnAI What hardware did u use to mine, Can u name the specs please. 21:26:26 i used a bunch of phones and tablets that had a combined, maybe 2kh, and hit prbably 3 mblocks in a couple months ((where it should have been a couple years) 21:26:34 these days i use an old ryzen 5 21:26:51 that has about 6kh 21:27:07 How did you get 60000 With that. 21:27:13 i didnt 21:27:16 🫡🫡 21:27:34 lol what 21:27:43 Oh Sry, Then How much did u make from the phones? 21:27:50 @slowbeardigger:matrix.org: my 60000xmr 21:27:51 Use Gupax and mine on nano pool. @yusufkhan:matrix.org 21:28:02 @yusufkhan:matrix.org: probably like 2-3 xmr over 4+ years 21:28:07 @pyratevevo:matrix.org: Will Try to Thanks. 21:28:22 @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: Solo? 21:28:25 @yusufkhan:matrix.org: yes 21:28:31 @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: ah the ones you got by selling illegal copies of zootopia 21:28:35 would have been like 1xmr if i pool mined 21:29:29 i got my -999xmr by mining on a pi zero 2w, def worth it 21:29:50 as i said, i got lucky and hit my first block days after i started, and never looked back 21:29:51 days after i started mining on the first phone* 21:29:55 Cool @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx Thanks For the Info Appreciate it Man. 21:29:57 then i added more and hit a few more. there were long stretches without a block, but i managed to always end up on the lucky side 21:30:35 At the time where would u run your node? the huge file? 21:30:36 long as in, probably at least a year without a block 21:30:37 i ran my node on a phone too 21:30:51 @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: Youve Got a Great Patience. 21:31:27 i didnt have a computer capable of running a node before, and the laptop i had got worse hashrate than the phone at much much higher energy costs 21:31:50 were the phones plugged in 24/7 21:31:52 so it made no sense to use the laptop to mine. it got lik 300h/s and the phone ot like 500-700 21:31:53 ? 21:32:01 plugged in with the battery removed 21:32:22 Gotcha U Made A Farm. 21:32:43 What kind of phones were they? 21:33:10 huawei, samsung s8, and a handful of other i collected 21:33:17 a samsung tablet 21:33:20 Block chain size was probably nothing at the time wasn't it > <@ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i ran my node on a phone too 21:33:30 ewww huawei, ewww samsung 21:33:31 it was like 55gb pruned 21:33:43 huawei pros are great 21:33:44 What if there were a power cut? 21:34:10 @yusufkhan:matrix.org: He lives in Israel, never loses power 21:34:51 @pw:xmr.mx: were* 21:34:56 @yusufkhan:matrix.org: for the node? the phone had a battery 21:35:28 it would lose internet (wifi router would have no power), then would come back alive once power was restored 21:35:36 ok cool! 21:35:38 never had the database corrupt 21:36:10 these days you need a phone with atleast 256gb internal storage to run it, and my older phones cap out at 128 21:36:17 so i dont have the space to run on phone any moe 21:36:53 I meant that reaction too :D 21:40:31 Thanks @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx For Your Valuable time 21:46:05 it not worth that much, but thanks 🙏 22:30:19 https://mrelay.p2pool.observer/m/matrix.org/fHKMJcaQDnuIyMVXmCZItynN.png (list on #9 Ztrash got $1,220!!! beat monero??? thats bullshit!!!!) 22:48:05 Whats going on?
