Would anyone like to read my CCS proposal before I post it to the GitLab instance? Just need a few people to proof-read it and propose some changes if necessary before I put it up.
-
tobtoht
Sure, PM me
-
AdorableTanuki[m
Apparently I can't since I'm on Matrix and don't have my account linked to Libera chat. Somewhat annoying but that's okay.
-
AdorableTanuki[m
I just get an error message saying you only accept messages from registered users tobtoht .
-
tobtoht
Try again.

My CCS proposal can be read at
paste.debian.net/plainh/ab1f6fc7. Feel free to give feedback and suggest changes in this channel. You can suggest a refined version if you would like through paste.debian.net.

AdorableTanuki[m
Note: This is still a rough draft. I'm mainly wanting a couple more people to proof-read it before I post it on GitLab.

Should include some kind of signed message from MoneroOcean to make sure the “email agreement” is legit no?
-
yngdgqjkclsv
When Tari finally comes out, will you dump your Monero to buy it? Will others?
-
AdorableTanuki[m
<bevanoff[m] "Should include some kind of sign"> I can add that no problem. Would it be best to be posted directly in with everything else or have it in a pastebin of sorts?
-
AdorableTanuki[m
Are matrix links similar to discord links in the sense that you don't need an account to view the image or file that it points to?
-
Keiji[m]
Yes, you can copy the image link

There are multiple psychological hooks to keep Monero community members in place. Here is one:
-
yzhmukmjuu
-
yzhmukmjuu
Notice that Scientologists don't stand on street corners saying "Would you like to talk about our Lord and Saviour, Xenu?"
-
yzhmukmjuu
Put yourself instead in the shoes of someone who spent $10,000 and 2-3 years of their life on their courses
-
yzhmukmjuu
And you get a bunch of bad sci-fi - you have two choices:
-
yzhmukmjuu
- either swallow a very bitter pill that you wasted a pile of money and a portion of your life
-
yzhmukmjuu
- or swallow the sci-fi, and from that point on, you will swallow _anything_ they tell you.
-
yzhmukmjuu
In the cult trade that's called "insider doctrine".
-
yzhmukmjuu
Would you like to talk about our Lord and Saviour of NASA, Howard Chu?

One question regarding the CCS proposal process. What is the process for adding your front matter and proposal?
-
sethsimmons
Maybe rehrar or luigi1111 know? I haven't done one personally, but I'd also recommend looking at previous proposals in Gitlab and see how they were done.
-
AdorableTanuki[m
To be more specific, in my branch on the GitLab repository, should it contain only the front matter with the proposal being added during the Merge Request? Or do I put both the front matter and proposal in my branch, then add the proposal again for the merge request?
-
rehrar
-
rehrar
Follow this.
-
AdorableTanuki[m
Yeah, I read that rehrar. I'm only confused on this one specific part. Given "In the Description text box, paste in the proposal EXACTLY AS IT APPEARS IN YOUR .md file, minus the front matter.", I assume that the proposal is in both the merge request and the branch.
-
rehrar
Ah, I see.
-
AdorableTanuki[m
Just wanting to be sure before I do the merge request so I don't cause a headache for someone else.
-
rehrar
That'd correct. The proposal in the MR description is just for readability for regular people.
-
rehrar
Put front matter and proposal in branch and just proposal in MR description.
-
AdorableTanuki[m
Awesome, thanks Rehrar! Greatly appreciate it. I'll correct that right now.

just gave them voice

Is there any way for me to contact the Monero Core Team? I just have a few questions for them.
-
obifsqkge
Word of guys running Monero community should be BELIEVED. Why would anyone that stole money and laughed at the losers that took the bait ever have a reason to lie to you?
removeddit.com/r/Monero/comments/6d…ds_to_give_up_his_commit_access_and (changed link to removeddit since /r/monero mod removed to try to cover it up - maybe fluffy himself?)
-
Lyza
they are around IRC, where to ask depends on the question but I guess #monero-dev if it's dev related otherwise #monero
-
Lyza
<AdorableTanuki[m> ^^
-
AdorableTanuki[m
Sounds good. It's just a question regarding my CCS proposal. Since I don't currently have 20 XMR to do what I have proposed and releasing XMR to me would likely be considered a risk, I want to work with the Monero Core Team to see what can be done.
-
selsta
that's not for #monero-dev
-
selsta
did you create your proposal yet?
-
selsta
ok, I see
-
selsta
AdorableTanuki[m: "In the event that MoneroOcean does not open source this code on their own repository for any reason, the 20 XMR fee also provides us with all updates to the source code in the future which ensures that this code will remain open and free for everyone to use."
-
selsta
you might want to rephrase this, at this point it does not make sense to me
-
selsta
ok, it maybe makes sense after reading it a couple times
-
AdorableTanuki[m
If you have any ideas on how I can rephrase it, feel free to let me know. I'd be more than happy to do so if necessary.
-
selsta
I also added a comment to it, from monero's side we don't want to encourage profit switching.
-
AdorableTanuki[m
Very understandable. Wrote my response on GitLab. If anyone wants to contribute to the conversation, the proposal is available at
repo.getmonero.org/monero-project/ccs-proposals/-/merge_requests/239. If you agree or disagree with the proposal, please voice your opinion.
-
AdorableTanuki[m
As mentioned in the comments on GitLab, if the community does not want the MoneroOcean back-end open-sourced due to issues with profit-switching, I will abandon my current proposal.
