when creating your wallet, it will ask you which mode you want to use (simple/bootstrap/advanced) - to run a full node choose advanced , but be aware that you will not be able to use your wallet until the process is finished

Chain's syncing! My lord, I started this at 5:00am. Never had so much bad luck. So with a 1gb connection, maybe a couple days to fully sync?

Yes the limiting factor is usually the random read and write speed. The sequential speed advertised doesn't mean much

It looks like Specter, Sparrow and Blue wallet support integration with the BTC seedsigner if you want to glance at their integrations. The CCS is proposing a new desktop app, and while that may be nice for hardcore users, I think the community would get vastly more support if the integrations happened in an existing wallet as a priority
