<g​fdshygti53:monero.social> Write cache instead of normal cache is because you don't want the cache to be contaminated by older TX that got read. You want to have the **latest** 20GB+ worth of monero blockchain in there, nothing else.

<g​fdshygti53:monero.social> That way you get the most cache hit and while you still have to process older TX that are not on the cache, most of them are going to be in the cache.

<g​fdshygti53:monero.social> I did test with a SMR piece of ****, it work just fine

<g​fdshygti53:monero.social> Performance difference between normal cache and write cache is about half an order of magnitude.

<g​fdshygti53:monero.social> Plus with normal cache you are going to trash you're SSD erase/write cycle a lot faster too
