<ammortel:monero.social> Hello
-
m-relay
<ammortel:monero.social> What's the best programming language to work around monero?
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> C++ if you want to work on core.
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> Depends on what you want to focus on, app development, core development, libraries development, payment processors development, your mom development...
-
m-relay
<ammortel:monero.social> Thanks
-
m-relay
<ammortel:monero.social> Is Woodser trustworthy?
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> I don't see why he wouldn't be.
-
m-relay
<havenouser:monero.social> in mom development?
-
m-relay
<ammortel:monero.social> Because noone is
-
m-relay
<rottenwheel:kernal.eu> 't was a joke, c'mon man!
-
m-relay
<havenouser:monero.social> everybody should invest a decent amount of time into mom development
-
m-relay
<ammortel:monero.social> 😂

<nihilist:m.datura.network> Damn right he is, he's the main developer of haveno dex
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> where do i start with this
-
m-relay
<ammortel:monero.social> I actually wanted to know a bit about Who is the guy behind the git repos. I always ask questions in a vague way
-
m-relay
<nihilist:m.datura.network> i think he wants to retain his anonymity, he doesnt seem open about it
-
m-relay
<nihilist:m.datura.network> what matters is the work he's doing, not who he is
-
m-relay
<nihilist:m.datura.network> i think he wants to retain his anonymity, he doesnt seem open about it, but i could be wrong
-
m-relay
<ammortel:monero.social> Both are intrinsically combined
-
m-relay
<nihilist:m.datura.network> nope. it's not uncommon here to have developers seeking to keep their anonymity
-
m-relay
<nihilist:m.datura.network> given the whole context of developers being prosecuted as an attack on free speech
-
m-relay
<ammortel:monero.social> 👍

<rbrunner7:monero.social> Even more so if you write software that has anything to do, in a broad sense, with "money transfer" (that some governments think is a "no go" without proper license) and possibly facilitates "money laundering" (where again it seems in some places almost any software that transfers "value" somehow can get into the crosshairs).

<syntheticbird:monero.social> Exchanging my video game cards on a Forum? How dare you!
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> I'm sure it's money laundering

<syntheticbird:monero.social> just sayin there is a bridge for signal<->Matrix
-
ofrnxmr
Signal blocked me for using tor
-
ofrnxmr
elucidator iirc was working on a bridge for simplex <> matrix, but idk what happened
-

<jcharlesnorris:matrix.org> I want to start a rotating savings account (ROSCA) with some friends online. We are looking into using Monero. Where should I start? I have no history with crypto.
-
m-relay
<jcharlesnorris:matrix.org> Thank you for your help.
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> jcharlesnorris: Do you want to know the basics of how to use Monero? Each ROSCA member would create their own wallet. They would have to acquire Monero somehow (the method would depend on the country that people are in, mostly). Then in a ROSCA round, each member would send the Monero coins (abbreviated XMR) by typing or copy-pasting the address of the wallet of the ROSCA member w<clipped message>
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> ho would receive it.
-
m-relay
<rucknium:monero.social> jcharlesnorris: This may be a good starting place:

elucidator
synteticbird: "he" is the correct one since I'm a single person :) yeah my simplex bridge is for simplex<->irc, not matrix but it works when a matrix bridge is already in the irc room.
-
elucidator
ofrnxmr: like I mentioned, it's simplex-to-irc not matrix unless you add matrix2051 bridge to the irc bot that does the relaying.
-
ofrnxmr
Simplex <>irc<>matrix :D
-
ofrnxmr
Is the bot already working?
-
ofrnxmr
The bridge*
-
elucidator
Yeah it's running in #monero-pt since last Nov
-
elucidator
Named "slingshot"
-
elucidator
You know, since it throws the message from one side to the other.
-
elucidator
Since my other bot "akio" parses all the bridge messages for commands, you can see somebody doing a price query from telegram bridge and you can read the result from your simplex connection.
-
elucidator
It specifically parses bridge user messages to throw the nickname part and get the command and run it.
-
elucidator
Usually bridge messages add the username to the start, before any command/message content.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> whatsapp bridge when ?
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> i'm sure there must be a lot of monero folks on whatsapp out there /s
-
m-relay
<frog_legs:matrix.org> I would use signal but I think that it exposes your phone number
-
ofrnxmr
can you add the bridge to #monero and monero simplex?
-
ofrnxmr
elucidator
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> frog_legs: there is a username feature for public group
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> you don't expose your phone number now
-
ofrnxmr
Dont expose to each other
-
ofrnxmr
But still creates an ugly / dirty privacy connectioj graph for signal to metadata track you
-
ofrnxmr
I'd prefer my signal acct be fully separated from monero
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> same
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> SimpleX is just superior in every way possible. Just sucks their codebase is haskell and SDK typescript
-
ofrnxmr
we need more simplex servers

"an address has no history. " << they sort of do

You can use a decoy scanner to see when an output first appeared, and in what transactions it was used as a decoy

<plainred:matrix.org> What if someone built an atomic swap for monero and digital currency
-
m-relay
<plainred:matrix.org> You use some digital bank to send money to an account generated with a code, then you can just atomic swap by inserting your monero wallet address
-
m-relay
<plainred:matrix.org> Only problem is that these digital banks might demand know your customer
-
m-relay
<plainred:matrix.org> Idk tell me what you think
