<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> Considering how little connection I2P has to the main internet, I don't know that that would be a good idea, because even if you can access the peer to peer network with I2P, it seems like it would be in danger of getting unsynchronized if an exit goes down or something.

<sgp_:monero.social> Let me know what you think of this video! A big focus of mine will be ensuring that Privacy Guides has what it needed to great high quality content. They're moving forward with three new hires to help make this happen

<shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social> Eli5 risk of running pruned node instead of full node? Why couldn't the entire network just be made up of pruned nodes?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Wrong place for the topic, #monero or even #monero-dev would be better.
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> but afaik, its intended to work so users could all be pruned nodes, but i think there might be an issue with initial sync
-
sech1
IIRC a pruned node stores only 1/8th of prunable data (a random slice), so if there are enough nodes in the network (not 8, but at least 100-200 to be safe), all of them can be pruned. But you'll need to find 8 pruned nodes with each of the 8 slices of data to sync
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> sech, the issue i think of would be that we batch blocks during initial sync
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> if syncing 1 by 1, i imagine it would work, but if requesting 20 blocks then only a full node can satisfy the request
-
m-relay
<preland:monero.social> Isn’t there a way to edit the number of batched blocks (yeah this is still off topic)
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Yea --block-sync-size
-
m-relay
<preland:monero.social> So it would just be an annoyance more than anything else (convo can continue in #monero if desired)

<rottenwheel:unredacted.org> Shocking, hadn't heard about that last part at all haha. Video looks good. Was the voice-over AI or a real person behind? 🤔

<rottenwheel:unredacted.org> I can't tell these days anymore... Crazy.
