Does anyone here know of any RnD updates for Omniring or are devs focused more on Tryptech at the moment?

IIRC triptych was thought to be the best for monero, though not by a lot.

I'm not aware of anyone looking at omniring atm. But you can ask in #monero-research-lab, maybe someone actaully is.

Omniring does not support batching as efficiently as other constructions, due to the need for a set of unique group generators for each proof

The initial batching estimates from the original Omniring preprint were incorrect, unfortunately

but AFAIK that has long been corrected in a revision
