  Trying to test a monero-wallet-rpc application but can't seem to sync my monerod node on stagenet. I get to about 10% and then it slows down to a crawl. Is there some secret here?

  Doesn't seem like monero-wallet-rpc plays too nicely with remote daemons (looks like it's something to do with the refreshing it has to do whenever a wallet is created/opened)

  I'm operating behind Tor if that would matter but I synced mainnet very quickly over Tor so I don't think so

  monerod has a tendency to drop peers when it does not strictly need it, which might exacerbate this.

  Strange that it can reliably sync to 10% and then slows down though? Wouldn't that indicate a bunch of nodes sitting around with only 10% of the blockchain?
