Hey guys
-
Iwjsks[m]
I am reading the book on Monero now
-
Iwjsks[m]
If I have any questions, do you know whom I could ask?
-
Iwjsks[m]
I have only one so far to be precise:
-
Iwjsks[m]
If Monero is as private as it gets and in theory people can't see transactions and wallet balances unless using very specialised tools and even then there are loopholes...
-
Iwjsks[m]
How do we know the market capitalisation of Monero?
-
moneromooo
We know the amount of monero created (coinbase amounts are cleartext). We know the average price a monero is bought and sold for. The definition of market cap is the product of those.
-
moneromooo
Your second to last sentence is... weird though.
-
Iwjsks[m]
moneromooo: Well, Chainalysis and Cypher trace develop tools to trace Monero, right?
-
Iwjsks[m]
So if someone uses those tools they could theoretically trace Monero if those tools somehow outpace the development race
-
hyc
prob better to ask in #monero
-
someoneelse49549
Iwjsks[m]: There is, atm, no proof or rumors of such tools existing. Multiple vulnerability exist in Monero but aren't exploited atm
-
hyc
eh, if they were actual vulnerabilities they'd have been exploited by now
-
hyc
there are some things that are non-optimal
-
someoneelse49549
Sorry, for be more precise, there exist potential vulnerabilities that weaken Monero's privacy, but there is no existing tool that coordinates the use of these vulnerabilities to effectively de-anonymized Monero's transactions

s/for/to/
-
Iwjsks[m]
What about tools like
-
Iwjsks[m]
Chainalysis reactor, cyphetrace Monero Tracing, Monero Traceability Analysis, Monero Observer and XMRt?
-
nikg83[m]
<Iwjsks[m]> "What about tools like..." <- Vapourware
-
Iwjsks[m]
Yes, but they really don't do anything? Why develop them then
-
Iwjsks[m]
They must at least in theory do something that makes it a bit more difficult for Monero, no?
-
nikg83[m]
Iwjsks[m]: They are selling snake oil, anyways this is offtopic here go to #monero
-
Iwjsks[m]
Oh apologies , I found this on the website and thought it was the only channel

WantClue[m]
hey guys I hope someone can help me with my issue. I cloned the git repo and powered on the daemon with a pruned blockchain. Afterwards I importet my wallet and I setup the rpc wallet. But as soon as the rpc wallet is starting it prompts me with the error: THROW EXCEPTION: tool:error:no_connection_to_daemon.
