chaserenebig respect for limiting tx_extra, I see it as an effective measure to limit degenerate behavior that could threaten the chain's usability. that being said, since it's only client-side, do you think it's possible that people who create tx's with large tx_extra establish a channel directly with the mining pools and the inclusion of these tx's return?

chasereneDataHoarder: I think pools can get around that by establishing direct channels to each other (see bitcoinfibre.org in Bitcoin). they would be incentivized to do it if it means they can earn more in fees.
