woodser[m]I'm seeing that wallet2 can prefer to spend an output bigger than necessary to fulfill a transaction, when a smaller sufficient output is available. is this expected or maybe indicative of a bug?
-
ofrnxmr[m]Expected. Iirc mooo recently said its coded to try to use 2 inputs, trending to 2>1 consolidations
-
ofrnxmr[m]Personally, i think it should be the opposite - always try to use the most efficient / lowest number of inputs
-
ofrnxmr[m]My recollection could be fuzzy. woodser:
-
woodser[m]ok, thanks
-
moneromooo"its coded to try to use 2 inputs" is true, but not the reason for "spend an output bigger than necessary to fulfill a transaction, when a smaller sufficient output is available".
-
moneromoooThe reason is that it will select outputs randomly (within the set of outputs of minimal "similarity" to ones already selected).
