Can you help me understand what "01af5145385ec10af8ce5e27b98a236214b91a546152470e5fb5818dc4e8d18ea30204" represents? Is this just some arbitrary data that Monero has added?

Some are: irssi, xchat, quassel. IIRC one called wechat, but not the chinese one, it's a name collision. Plenty of lesser known ones.

I use finch. you could use pidgin too if you prefer a gui.
