  Actually, if `proxy` isn't a param for `set_daemon`, can it be added? Or does --proxy work in a way where it has to be a startup flag?

  I think having it as a startup flag makes sense to avoid leaks

  but the daemon has `set_bootstrap_daemon` which allows you to set a proxy, so I guess it could also be added to `set_daemon`

  jeffro256: is it a lot of work to adapt 8945 to c++14? because merging C++17 to release branch will require a lot of testing in regards to release binaries and I would prefer not to have it for the next release
