For anyone who might care: I am currently stress testing monerod with a private testnet. I am running 10 nodes on my machine and filling the mempool. If anyone would like to join me just let me know and we can add you to the network.

Awesome! I may as well give the starting instructions here:

To get started get a testnet node set up and pop blocks or sync to block 2000000. (this gives us a test environment using the current version while being far enough behind the testnet to prevent our spam from being written to the actual network.)

Then, as you may already know, we just need to trade node info and use --add-exclusive-node to connect.

Making sure the node is sync'd to height <= 2000000 is the important part, as if anyone connects with a fully sync'd testnet I believe it will destroy my test environment. I have created some backups, but it would be a significant setback as my test setup can only do ~15 tps of 1in/2out and it takes a day or so to fill the mempool at that rate.
