<imprevisto:matrix.org> when I see a huge WIP PR on monero's github - where are more detailed discussions and evaluations\ happening?
-
m-relay
<rbrunner7:monero.social> Depends. If not right on the PR, it's possible here, or over in the
matrix.to/#/#no-wallet-left-behind:monero.social room. Which PR in particular did you see?
-
m-relay
<preland:monero.social> Either here, in that PR, in an issue
-
m-relay
<preland:monero.social> Or nowhere at all :)
-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> for example
monero-project/monero #9440
-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> anyway, thanks, I'll be sure to look nowhere 😄 but srsly thx for reply, i'll look in that room

<dhaileytaha:matrix.org> Dear Monero Community,
-
m-relay
<dhaileytaha:matrix.org> We have been running the Monero transaction visualizer on TxCity.io to provide a unique and engaging way to explore Monero transactions in real-time. Our goal has always been to enhance transparency and understanding while maintaining Monero’s core values of privacy and decentralization.
-
m-relay
<dhaileytaha:matrix.org> To continue running the visualizer smoothly, we are requesting a small grant of $600 USD to cover our server costs for the next 12 months ($50 per month). This support will allow us to maintain and improve the visualization experience without interruptions.
-
m-relay
<dhaileytaha:matrix.org> Additionally, we welcome any feature requests from the Monero community! If there are specific improvements or enhancements you'd like to see in the Monero visualizer, we'd be happy to work on them.
-
m-relay
<dhaileytaha:matrix.org> We truly appreciate the Monero community’s support and look forward to making the visualizer even better together.
-
m-relay
<dhaileytaha:matrix.org> Looking forward to your thoughts!
-
m-relay
<dhaileytaha:matrix.org> Best regards,

<fedorian:matrix.org> Hello, I have a project in mind when FCMP++ hardfork happens. I would like a better understanding of transaction chaining. Basically, wondering if the following is possible:
-
m-relay
<fedorian:matrix.org> Let's say Bob wants to send 1 XMR, but not right now. Bob publishes to the blockchain that he is spending 1 XMR. There's some data off-chain that allows a third party to publish that transaction at any point thereafter.

<rbrunner7:monero.social> imprevisto --- {SO_KEEPALIVE} 💀ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ٨ـ♡ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ٨…: I would suspect that PR #9440 is so far much of a one-person show, with tobtoht going deep into the subject and pioneering. I don't think that you will find much of a discussion about that. It's work that has to be done, IMHO, and gratefully tobtoht is doing it :)
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> For anyone to think about your request, pass per official channel such as Twitter or your website directly. You have as much credibility as any scammer at the moment.
-
m-relay
<fedorian:matrix.org> is it safe for a user to share a signed transaction before it is published to the blockchain, does it expose their wallet security in some way?
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> no it don't engage the security of the wallet.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> as a signed transaction is something that you would normally broadcast to the entire network anyway
-
m-relay
<fedorian:matrix.org> that makes sense when you put it that way haha
-
m-relay
<fedorian:matrix.org> thanks
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> np
-
m-relay
<rbrunner7:monero.social> Well, I counted about 5 or so major coins on TxCity.io ... if all their communities share the cost, maybe it could be only USD 600 / 5 = USD 120 server costs for Monero?

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> The starting poing would probably be the guix bootrapping for pre-fcmp
-

-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Also worth noting that (aiui) most noteworthy crypto projects have migrated from gitian to guix as well

<imprevisto:matrix.org> haha! yeah I saw that
-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> GUIX is something I have not done before
-
m-relay
<monero.arbo:matrix.org> guix builds work on master rn for me
-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> I am looking at `guix_rust` as we chat
-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> definitely functional and reproducible is an excellent place to work from
-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> I myself do not have much experience with `C++` so I try to avoid it, but it's everywhere and of course monero and tons of BTC forked projects are burdoned with it

-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> looking for a way in, thanks for the help looking around
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> If you have experience with Rust you can help out elsewhere you know 😏
-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> yeah! I'm hoping to get there
-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> the FCMP stuff is pretty massive. I don't need a PhD project (yet)
-
m-relay
<imprevisto:matrix.org> cuprated looks good but still intimidating
-
m-relay
<preland:monero.social> Is cuprate going to eventually become the mainline Monero implementation?
-
m-relay
<preland:monero.social> (is that the plan I mean)
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> no
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> when Cuprate will hit stable then i guess the question could be naturally brought to light but in the long-term future
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> that is if core and maintainers evaluate there is benefits in passing the status of reference implementation from monerod to cuprated
-
m-relay
<preland:monero.social> Ok that’s what I thought, but I wasn’t sure since it gets discussed at times like it’s an upgrade, while at other times it’s described as a PoC
-
m-relay
<monero.arbo:matrix.org> performance-wise it's an upgrade for sure :D
