<day20250619:matrix.org> Dear developers! Is it difficult to make an option for Monero Client GUI which could let it to mine in times of user's inactivity automatically, just like screensavers do ? I mean, it must not be obligatory but as an option if a user what to switch it on.
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> mine when user is inactive?
-
m-relay
<17lifers:matrix.org> xmrig config, mine when user is inactive (adjustable)
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> make a issue on github.I don't think it's necessary. You can use xmrig.
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Isn't if already an option
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> isn't it*
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> Oh,I'm sorry
-
m-relay
<day20250619:matrix.org> I can't see it in Client GUI
-
m-relay
<day20250619:matrix.org> Is it "Background mining" ?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Yes
-
m-relay
<day20250619:matrix.org> Thank you.
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Cheers
-
m-relay
<day20250619:matrix.org> Then it would be nice to have (popup) explanation there as it is not obvious for some not very smart users.
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> Uh, yea
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> Uh, yes
-
m-relay
<day20250619:matrix.org> ...and may be "inactivity time" settings.
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> Perhaps we need to consider changing the expression. When I first used MoneroGUI (Chinese mode), I really didn't know what it meant.
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> I believe that an ordinary person would not initially read documents and books (proficient in Monero)
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> It means "mine in the background". Maybe rename to "pause when active"
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> anyway, this isnt room for gui
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> yes
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> I always thought it was about having the GUI in the background, I was too foolish
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> Let us go to #monero-gui:monero.social
-
m-relay
<jennny316:catgirl.cloud> oop i suppose this isn't the room for newbies
-
m-relay
<jennny316:catgirl.cloud> which room is that?
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> This channel is for contributors and developers to discuss
-
m-relay
<jennny316:catgirl.cloud> yeah i figured as much…
-
m-relay
<pyxmr2025:mozilla.org> Take a look at the workgroup page on getmonero.org.
-
m-relay
<jennny316:catgirl.cloud> i can't join the main group bc of a network error or something

<dependency_inversion_principle:matrix.org> Hello there, what would be the oldest version of the official monerod and monero gui/cli that I could still run and make transactions?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> v0.18.0.0
-
m-relay
<dependency_inversion_principle:matrix.org> Thank you, how sure are you?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> 100%
-
m-relay
<dependency_inversion_principle:matrix.org> I have an old wallet.
-
m-relay
<dependency_inversion_principle:matrix.org> I try to send some XMR from that wallet and get this error: Can't create transaction: internal error: Known ring does not include the spent output: x (some ID)
-
m-relay
<dependency_inversion_principle:matrix.org> The error exists on every configuration, no matter what monerod I use, different VMs, different clients, tried different configurations. Are errors like this known and what could be the cause? I did find some Github issues, but they were old and not conclusive.
-
m-relay
<dependency_inversion_principle:matrix.org> Do you think it's worth checking with v0.18.0.0? Would take a long time to rebuild the chain.
