for example in this very important patch monero-project/monero #7803 vtnerd do some update

i need to download again this patch patch-diff.githubusercontent.com/ra…nero-project/monero/pull/7803.patch

If you had a previous version, best to undo (git reset --hard HASH with HASH being the last hash that's not your local changes).

Then: git am /tmp/patch.diff (after saving the patch to /tmp/patch.diff)

Yes. Reset hard to get a clean slate, get the new patch, then am.
