nahnahnah722828: depends on your threat model. I'm mostly a dev and researcher so I connect to them all the time. If you are dissident in a failed state or dictatorship then you would probably not want to do that. The gui has socks5 proxy but everyone always says to run your own node.

I think you should read Mastering Monero, Zero to Monero (if you want more tech stuff) and watch "Breaking Monero" on YouTube. This will answer most questions about the project.
