Pointless API. It could be useful if it were higher level, bit it's just a different API for the same stuff. Work would be better spent just killing it and porting the GUI to wallet2.

I agree that it's a pointless API, the problem is almost all monero wallets use libwallet, so it's nothing we could quickly kill even if we ported the GUI

the libwallet_tests exist already so fixing them shouldn't be more than a couple hours work (estimated)

I don't really disagree with either line really. Maybe it's just too late now.
