<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> Hi. I've been out of the loop for a while. the monero gui is still not accessible to screen readers
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> Do you need to have monero itself installed in order to use feather wallet, or can I use feather wlalet all on it's own?
-
plowsof
feather is all-in-one , nothing else required
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> I'm not able to mine, there's no XM rig available when I try to download it
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> z
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> oops, sorry, screen reader playing up
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> I mean, there's nothing to right click on
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> if I install feather wallet for windows, then try to set up mining, there is no version of xm rig I can pick from to download. it's very strange
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> also, I was promised last year that the GUI for monero would get an overhall to make it more screen reader friendly, as it stands, all I am able to do when I start the wallet up is select the default language
-
plowsof
oh in this case, no, feather does not contain anything to mine. monerod is required for xmrig
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> ah, so do I just start up moneroD and then start up feather wallet?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> You can connect xmrig to any node (remote or local) or pool. Right, wallets don't include xmrig
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> sorry, you'll have to start again, I'm confused
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> from scratch.
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> You can connect feather wallet to any node as well
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> so, first, I install monero and then start up mondero D? is that right?
-
plowsof
what do you want to do? send / receive monero. AND mine monero?
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> Yes
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> I am completely knew at crypto
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> you don't have to run a node to mine or use a wallet
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> I followed the instructions on setting up mining in feather wallet, but no version of XM rig is available to download
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> download xmrig from xmrig.com
-
plowsof
the problem here is the guide is perhaps obsolete and can be reported to feather dev
docs.featherwallet.org/guides/mining-setup
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> Thanks. I am just curious though as to why feather wallet can't find it?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> also, please read xyproblem.info
-
plowsof
better to take this to support?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Thats why i mentioned xyproblem.info :P
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> I'm not sure if this is a gui question, an xmrig question, a wallet recommendation, or a mining question :D
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> I thought this was the right channel for support?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> No. Support is the right channel for support
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Monero Support
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> Yeah, sorry for the confusion here. there were several issues happening all at once.
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> 1. I am not able to use the monero GUI with my screenreader, so I switched to feather wallet instead
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> 2. the mining instructions in feather wallet were confusing, since a version of x-rig was supposed to become available from within the feather wallet gui interface, and you were then able to click on it, in order to download it.
-
m-relay
<the-whocrazy76:matrix.org> late last year when I chatted in this room about monero gui's interface, they promised to fix the interface to make it more screen reader friendly for the blind
-
plowsof
it seems the last update on that was provided here
