should be enough to run my fiber modem, router, and rockpro64
-
hyc
the sample price on the listing is wrong, it says $40 but it's actually $60
-
hyc
will take a couple weeks to get here
-
Inge
planning on controlling it with NUT?
-
hyc
what's that?
-
Inge

I guess will have to see what kind of remote interface this thing has. that really wasn't on my feature list when I was looking
-
hyc
doesn't mention any kind of interface
-
Inge
I never got around to it, but wanted to have some control with my UPS do that I could do controlled shutdown of some of my systems before the UPS ran out of juice
-
hyc
makes sense. I used to do that in LA with an APC UPS
-
hyc
looks like no software interface on this model
-
hyc
it's really meant for dumb devices that don't need a clean shutdown - like routers, phones, CCTV cameras
-
hyc
I might build a dedicated battery pack for the rockpro64 later. can get the charger module and bare batteries easily enough

<sech1> CPU-Z benchmark probably fits into 1.25 MB L2 cache and gets huuuge boost from that

just got my new electricity bill. definitely cost more than my miners have earned :P
-
hyc
but it's actually a close call
-
pauliouk
if all you do is mine, with the lights off, never powering anything other than mining boxes... then yeah that sucks :)
-
hyc
well, it's not like the bill has usage itemized. i'm just assuming all other usage was constant, and the price delta is all due to mining.
-
pauliouk
fair :)

hyc: you could get the house wired up for the night time Flexi rate they use for storage heaters. That would take ~40% off your kw/h rate immediately. The downside is your miners would only be on at night time though

They're very easy to diy
-
pauliouk
easy but not cheap

my electricity provider actually emailed me and said since my 1year contract was finished I ought to look into switching providers to get another signup bonus
-
crypto_grampy[m]
pauliouk: just depends on how much your electricity is and how much you're mining and how much you think xmr will be worth
-
moneromooo
Your electricity provider is enticing you to stop paying them ?
-
hyc
yep. bizarre huh?
-
nioc
my state deregulated electricity providers, but ofc not for where I live :)
-
crypto_grampy[m]
-
nioc
but then again the cost of electricity is only 40% the total bill

Here's another GUI app that could potentially be forked for the Android XMRig GUI bounty (currently at 3 XMR π) :
github.com/scala-network/MobileMiner . It uses some shitcoin fork of xmrig under the hood.

crypto_grampy[m]
has some kind of automatic temp control built in as well
