nomadicsound[m]so i just started mining on p2pool. installed on manjaro linux, everything seems to be chugging along fine. how long does it take to start seeing pay outs?
-
nomadicsound[m]disclaimer: i am total noob to mining and linux and barely have any clue what im doing
-
niocnomadicsound[m]: you get paid whenever you have found an active share on p2pool and the pool finds a block
-
niocThe shares remain active for about 6hrs
-
nomadicsound[m]ive had the terminal window show "block found" 3 or 4 times now but ive only been up and running maybe 2 hours? so you're saying it takes at least 6 hours?
-
niocIf you type status in your p2pool node it will show any shares that you have on a timeline
-
nomadicsound[m]interesting. can you define a "share"?
-
nomadicsound[m]or point me to a resource to research?
-
meropeIt's a valid result submitted to the pool and accepted by it
-
meropeWhich in the case of p2pool is effectively a block on the p2pool sidechain
-
meropeAnd sometimes those sidechain blocks can also be a valid solution for the main Monero chain (which means the pool has found a block and is going to get paid for it)
-
niocIf you join #p2pool-log , that is the irc address for the channel, there is a bot that you can pm your address and it will notify when you get a share
-
niocAlso a better place for general help
-
nomadicsound[m]so when i typed status into p2pool terminal under "stratumServer" status it says shares found 20 but above that under "SideChain" status it says your shares 0"
-
nomadicsound[m]nioc: I've joined this channel via element client for matrix, how would i pm the bot?

garthWoo P2pool is over 600 instances
