gingeropolous
huh, i might go back to solo mining
-
gingeropolous
didn't realize between april and august 2021 i snagged 5 blocks
-
gingeropolous
and after switching to p2pool, i have 1715 outputs! i mean jesbut
-
sech1
Monerujo crashes when I try to open my p2pool wallet :D
-
gingeropolous
lol
-
sech1
I can only work around it by doing sweep_all and syncing from new height
-
gingeropolous
i think i'll just keep the dust wallet around for when monero is a bajillion dollars and i can just spend 1 dust output at a time
-
sech1
it's better to consolidate inputs before fees get higher
-
sech1
v18 hardfork will 5x transaction fees
-
sech1
if all your inputs are 0.0003 XMR, fees will be ~0.8% for consolidation transaction
-
sech1
after the hardfork, it will be 4%
-
gingeropolous
sonofabitch
-
sech1
fees will get ~10% lower from where they are now though due to decreased block reward
-
sech1
or you can wait until blocks get super full and dynamic block size kicks in (fees will be lower) :D
-
gingeropolous
im curious how monero-wallet-cli will respond when i ask it to sweep_all my mining wallet :)
-
sech1
it will create many transactions
-
sech1
each tx will have ~190 inputs/2 outputs
-
gingeropolous
yeah
-
gingeropolous
at least it won't yell at me like my other wallets thats like "you have old outputs and you shouldn't do this"
-
sech1
it will
-
gingeropolous
gah
-
sech1
"spending 2 or more old outputs" or something like this
-
moneromooo
5 blocks solo mining in half a year ? Bli fucking mey.
-
gingeropolous
i guess my script to check for mined blocks in the logs didn't work :/
-
moneromooo
The wallet will tell you for sure.
-
moneromooo
IIRC show_transfers shows "block" or "coinbase" or somesuch instead of in or out.
-
gingeropolous
yeah, show_transfers has that. i had something in my shell when I logged in that would grep the monerod logs
-
sech1
it shows "block"
-
merope
Easy way to estimate: compare your hashrate to the network hashrate, that's the (average) fraction of all blocks you should be finding
-
merope
To find 5 blocks in 5 months in a 3GH/s network you need ~139 kH/s (on average)
-
merope
Personally, I consider 2 blocks/month to be the "reasonable bare minimum" for solo mining
-
merope
That way, you have roughly a 1.8% chance of going without a block for over 2 months due to bad luck
-
hyc
so my 6kh worth of phones and laptops will stick to p2pool
