I'd have gone with soldering the wiring in and going with low profile

in the one I planned before backing out after doing the parts cost... I designed a rough PCB layout as a hat, desoldering the power, hdmi, ethernet and the USB and having the pin contacts drop down from the hat. then a badly rated ribbon cable to each one for everything
