What would be nice is if... someone... were to fix p2pool so it can work with merge mined coins (like Townforge and, presumably, Tari). IIRC the issue is that p2pool uses the merge mine tag for its own purposes, which conflicts with the actual merge mine system. I forget the details.

Otherwise it means merge mining and p2pool are in competition, rather than additive incentives to hash on monero.

P2Pool can start using another tag, and also allow an arbitrary merge mining tag in tx_extra

Then adding merge mined chains will not require P2Pool fork anymore
