br-m<articmine> My response to this is that ZCash is ripping off Bitcoin and paying a huge price as a result. > <@jeffro256> Lmao you can't win with some ZCash people. It's either A) "You're so low tech and outdated, get with the times", or B) "You're doing FCMPs? You're just ripping off of Zcash"
-
br-m<articmine> I am talking about the broken fixed block size, falling block reward and no pricing at all to control block size growth.
-
br-m<articmine> When this broken approach is applied to a privacy protecting cryptocurrency, it becomes a prescription for a complete disaster.[... more lines follow, see mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/4Jrd3bsKbnVpWmd2 ]

br-m<articmine> By the way I agree with Monero moving on to post quantum.
-
br-m<spirobel:kernal.eu> > <@jeffro256> Some folks over there are afraid that Monero will both 1) have a stronger network effect than their coin, and 2) have feature parity in terms of privacy tech (which in practice affords better privacy b/c larger network effect and mandatory shielding)
-
br-m<spirobel:kernal.eu> this is true. fcmp is much closer than tachyon so it was now or never for them. How do we compare in terms of compute for tx scanning / verification ? It also seems like they completely drank the solana koolaid, but with the difference that they are far away in terms of UX and their project comes with lots of caveats. It coul [... too long, see mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/zfOx7rsKRXRBUTZr ]

br-m<articmine> There are also serious concerns about scaling, which is understandable given that ZCash inherited the scaling disaster that is Bitcoin and made it way worse by adding privacy.
-
br-m<articmine> Tachyon looks to me like a cross between Bitcoin on chain and Bitcoin Lighting. Given that Monero easily beats Bitcoin on scaling even though Monero transactions after FCMP++ would be ~20x larger than Bitcoin transactions, I fail to see how Tachyon Zcash can possibly compete with Monero on scaling.
-
br-m<articmine> By the way by the time FCMP++ goes live next year 1MB of bandwidth in January of 2009 will be equivalent to 1GB of bandwidth according to Nielsen's law of bandwidth 50% growth per year.
-
br-m<articmine> The way this is going Monero will be post quantum and still scale better than Bitcoin.
-
br-m<spirobel:kernal.eu> @articmine: its a bit like "lets replace bitcoin with lightning"
-
br-m<spirobel:kernal.eu> the transaction size wont matter much anymore but it will most likely be so weird and cumbersome in the end that actual adoption stays limited.
