<spirobel:kernal.eu> would be interested to read > <DataHoarder> I made a TL;DR overview last night of what people are complaining about and quick ways to go at it in #monero:monero.social but indeed, people are misunderstanding first how monero works, how it'd also work after FCMP++ and what they call carrot

<spirobel:kernal.eu> sometimes i think either we have a rat in the mod team or they are just completely incompetent.

replace some of the nomenclature as listed above ^

DataHoarder[m]
when I say "addressing mode" I mean the wallet
-
DataHoarder[m]
it's a large TL;DR of a couple hours of discussion before and after that

<spirobel:kernal.eu> i would recommend not to answer random alts that ask "curious questions"
-
DataHoarder[m]
@kayabanerve:monero.social is currently engaged on a similar argument

<spirobel:kernal.eu> i think what you wrote is great

<spirobel:kernal.eu> it should be a blogpost

But it doesn't cover the FCMP++ specifics (that make output tracking via ring analysis no longer possible)

you'll have to check with plowsof afaik this is leftover from other channels(?) but you can read the logs via the IRC logs website > <@spirobel:kernal.eu>

<spirobel:kernal.eu> or i could just make alts like the clankers but i dont want that tbh

<spirobel:kernal.eu> seems childish and like a waste of time

<spirobel:kernal.eu> DataHoarder[m]: should be pinned on reddit
-
br-m
<spirobel:kernal.eu> everyone who argues against it should be mocked until they leave. this whole ovk debate is so stupid.
-
br-m
<spirobel:kernal.eu> monero-oxide contains outgoing view keys
-
br-m
<spirobel:kernal.eu> nobody complained about it.

<spirobel:kernal.eu> shows that all these twitter and reddit opinion havers need to be put in their place. either they are ai bots themselves or they fell for ai bot propaganda

Even
getmonero.org/2024/04/27/fcmps.html did. This comes just after we had a wave of people doing FUD around how monero didn't plan to do anything around quantum computers, when pointed in the direction of the actual changes being tested, suddenly it shifts to point out those changes as bad, how odd :)
-
DataHoarder
I think this is not the channel for calling people names, though, and FUD lives on partial information being available -> which then becomes a large chinese telephone game

<spirobel:kernal.eu> DataHoarder: sealions need the club :-)

<spirobel:kernal.eu> you give an indepth explanation, random alt with no credibility: realistically it will just be blabla fake fud idea > <DataHoarder[m]>

<spirobel:kernal.eu> very cheap human ddos attack
-
DataHoarder
it's even cheaper to initiate it and helpless people carry it along

<kayabanerve:matrix.org> Actually, we have several claims they're critical security issues and we should pay out hundreds of thousands of dollars in bug bounties, so we have many complaints
-
br-m
<kayabanerve:matrix.org> :p

<kayabanerve:matrix.org> Tbf, our outgoing view keys are just a UX feature for 'honest' senders, without cryptographic guarantees, to enhance the probabilistic detection a normal sender would already yield into something useful.
-

critical: monero users are able to see the balance they have on their own wallets. This can be abused by an attacker to ask users to tell them how much they own via handwritten fax
-

<kayabanerve:matrix.org> Also, I think @boog900:monero.social thinks they shouldn't be there by default.
-
br-m
<kayabanerve:matrix.org> This is why I wrote monero-wallet before the creation of monero-oxide, when boog couldn't tell me what to do, and now boog can't unilaterally change it 😈

<kayabanerve:matrix.org> /s but a decent improvement may to accept an enum of an RNG or fixed entropy as yes, the current API isn't the friendliest
