br-m<monero.arbo:matrix.org> > <@fr33_yourself> You're point about checkpoints is somewhat valid, but isn't it desirable for all (or at least most) new peers joining to perform full verification of all historical blocks? Checkpoints increase the speed, but require trusting what you are being fed without without verifying it oneself on the device. Seem [... too long, see mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/_rv7g-YKRG1ZZWJy ]

br-m<monero.arbo:matrix.org> I somewhat agree but I would add that by downloading and running the binary at all, you are placing trust in the code to work as expected. Alternatively, you can verify the code for yourself. One is fast and relies on social consensus, the other is.... not fast, but is important to make possible nonetheless. But, I don't think [... too long, see mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/_rv7g-YKRG1ZZWJy ]

br-m<monero.arbo:matrix.org> not with cuprate.... there's a lot of room left for improvements in monerod, I think > <@ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> It takes like 24hrs to sync an 8gb testnet. It likely takes well, well over a week to sync mainnet w/o checkpoints currently. Thats with like 40kb blocks.

br-m<monero.arbo:matrix.org> btw @fr33_yourself:monero.social you might be interested in the #monero-stressnet:monero.social channel as they have been running fcmp under heavy load to test
