<vostoemisio:matrix.org> Gm, I'll answer you in bullet points

m-relay
<vostoemisio:matrix.org> What do I think of white bg/lighter colors?
-
m-relay
<vostoemisio:matrix.org> If we started from scratch, I'd be fine with a lighter background; it wouldn't hurt. We didn't create these videos with GetMonero in mind and haven't received any feedback or comments about this in previous videos. Considering we already have done 3 videos with cohesive branding, it would take many hours to remake them with white backgrounds. Do I think it matters?

<vostoemisio:matrix.org> Thumbnails are the first impression people get from the videos. These thumbnails have nothing to do with illicit use, underground, or anything sketchy.

<vostoemisio:matrix.org> The video has a darker color scheme, but the illustrations, voice-over, and music are all friendly. I don't think it's an issue. My conclusion would be that if we started from scratch, I'd be fine with a lighter background to embed it more into the website. I don't have a strong opinion on it, but considering the time it would take to remake, I don't think it's worth it.

<vostoemisio:matrix.org> A pretty good compromise now when I think about it, is too lighten up the thumbnails in order to embed the videos to the lighter color scheme of the website, this we could do pretty quickly and it would not be as "intimidating", thoughts?

<vostoemisio:matrix.org> Gm ceetee.mx , how are we doing?
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> I dont think having a dark background is a big deal. 3blue1brown does it all the time and i've never ever questioned that
-
m-relay
<vostoemisio:matrix.org> Same, you'd have to take everything in the video into account for it to be a matter worth discussing (Illustrations, script, music). BG alone is not an issue
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> For a light theme website light thumbnails would be nice, if you embedded it between text sections. If its more like a video library you could "dim the lights" for that part of the website, ie. by fading background to darker colors
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> redoing all the videos in light theme would be a waste of time
-
m-relay
<vostoemisio:matrix.org> Is the plan with the updated website optional light/dark theme?
-
m-relay
<vostoemisio:matrix.org> I haven't been keeping up with the discussions
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> no concrete plans yet I think. Some people desperately want a dark them, but tbh light them + dark reader works perfectly fine and is no extra work

<basses:matrix.org> dark reader is not the solution

m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> my PC has less then average performance and it was never an issue, especially on sites without JS
-
m-relay
<ct:xmr.mx> not saying we shouldn't have a native solution, but its not super high prior imo
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> Monero is diff, most crypto projects sites doesn't offer a real dark theme unless they are using a static site generator like Ethereum
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> nvm seems like Ethereum does have a native solution

Keep the videos black!
