<redsh4de:matrix.org> Upd: Finished and pushed this today > <@redsh4de:matrix.org> Currently working on rewriting the Moneropedia @ tag system so that you dont have to wire the preprocessor into every page that might use markdown with the tags
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> Made a Remark plugin for Moneropedia @term mentions in markdown files. The link + tooltip feature will now apply automatically without needing to wire in extra logic on any of the pages. Plugin works by replacing the @term tags with markdown AST nodes that later get converted into HTML by Astro in the build process

<basses:matrix.org> is there a way to handle broken links with new migration? set redirects?
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> oh and we need rss for blog
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @basses:matrix.org: Use same links?
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: url changes
-
br-m
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> no need,
caniuse.com/?search=JPEG+XL @plowsof:matrix.org > <@redsh4de:matrix.org> If its needed, can create jxl versions as well
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> yeah, but what about some images added too on top of it like
privacyguides.org/en/basics/why-privacy-matters does for each page > <@redsh4de:matrix.org> I think having a consistent design for specifically the Opengraph thumbnails is better
-
br-m
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> looks like they use these icons
-
plowsof
Srcset is the key here - display a format not widely supported and fall back to another, its just a cool feature but not needed
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> yeah but why, almost no browser support it anyways
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> Pretty sure Diego is going to do something of that sort for the 3 major blog categories: Releases, Urgent and Community > <@basses:matrix.org> yeah, but what about some images added too on top of it like
privacyguides.org/en/basics/why-privacy-matters does for each page
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> @redsh4de:matrix.org: I was talking about main pages
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> too
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> Yeah if he has time def can do thumbnail designs for the main pages too, id be all for it
-
br-m
<diego:cypherstack.com> Ye
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> Yes, rewrite rules on nginx/apache/something else level > <@basses:matrix.org> is there a way to handle broken links with new migration? set redirects?
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> ive made sure mostly everything is backwards compatible, with some exceptions like the blog links
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> ah yeah, added that in one of my pushes from either today/yday:
beta.monerodevs.org/feed.xml > <@basses:matrix.org> oh and we need rss for blog
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> @redsh4de:matrix.org: was thinking of adding an icon so it can be easily found
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> @basses:matrix.org: For desktop: Inline with the tab header, justified to the right
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> For mobile: Inline with the title maybe?
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> also justified to the right
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> For nginx probably something like this: > <@redsh4de:matrix.org> Yes, rewrite rules on nginx/apache/something else level
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> rewrite ^/(\d{4}/\d{2}/\d{2}/.*)$ /blog/$1
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> Idea is to match links like getmonero.org/2021/01/01/blog-name, and redirect them to getmonero.org/blog/2021/01/01/blog-name
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> @redsh4de:matrix.org: desktop yes
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> will check how it would look on mobile
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> but what will the icon be like?
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> I'd probably use a avif mask icon to keep it simple
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> I actually have a github issue about icon sets - because for outside of header icons i am using just random svgs i found on svgviewer, i want to later replace everything with some consistent open-source icon set that would be compatible with i reckon BSD-3 later
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> @redsh4de:matrix.org: can you send pic?
-
br-m
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> would be like this but orange
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> @redsh4de:matrix.org: Two options ive looked at are lucide.dev (ISC) and heroicons.com (MIT)
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> @redsh4de:matrix.org: we will probably get icons from multiple sources, unless some have all icons we need
-
br-m
<basses:matrix.org> there is
svgrepo.com which scrapes icons from multiples sources, license varies per icon
-
br-m
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> @basses:matrix.org: Yea thats basically what i have for the most part, just pulled whatever looked decent from svgviewer.dev
-

br-m
<basses:matrix.org> which one you guys think is best?
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> split between 2nd and 3rd
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> leaning towards 2nd to be consistent with the overall "round" ui elements on the page
-
br-m
-
br-m
<321bob321> So has deployment method been discussed ?
-
br-m
<321bob321> Once where live and dangerous
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> Can keep using Netlify for familiarity, as that how the current site is deployed from what i see:
docs.astro.build/en/guides/deploy/netlify
-
br-m
<redsh4de:matrix.org> Other options are Coolify (beta deployment), Github Pages, Gitlab Pages
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Netlify isnt free
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> I don't think its used for the actual deployment, just for PR previews
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> The site is manually deployed by core upon request
-
br-m
<plowsof:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: it cost me ...14$ iirc because i was spamming my own private repo
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Netlify can keep being used on -site for previews as long as it keeps working
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> But coolify is a simple, and free, substitution that works wonderfully (as seen on doc's PR previews)
-
br-m
<plowsof:matrix.org> with the DIY comment, as the app required monero-project maintainer, to go to my coolify instance , and log in to github via a letterbox in a coolify page type sh- 🙅
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> yeah, the DIY comment (im surprised) isnt documented by coolify, but works great (just a workflow)
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> The app is sus lol "gimme write power to all of your repos" type shit
