Hey, is anyone on reddit getting rate limited? I just commented in xmrtrader (I have high karma there), and it told me to wait 5 minutes. I waited, and then tried another comment in Monero sub (also high karma), and reddit told me to wait 9 minutes.

Monegro: I try to avoid reddit, for the most part, so I guess I wouldn't have such an experience.

I'm thinking about trying to get a local meeting group going where cryptocurrency stuff would be on-topic. I'd like to prepare a sort of intro-to-the-state-of-cryptocurrencies for it. I just want to be very straightforward, present things in a fairly non-favoritist manner, and use representative examples of things to demonstrated points that'll help inform people.

I think just doing that in an even handed way would tend toward convincing people with a reasonable mindset toward Monero in some respects, so it'd be kind of a stealth-pro-Monero thing.

I also want to bring up some non-cryptocurrency stuff, and get some general economics in there. One thing I'm contemplating doing is using some meatspace visual aids that get passed around, just to give people a literally tangible experience, too.

For instance, I'd pass around a dollar bill, a gift card, and a stand-in for a gold coin. (I'm thinking of showing the group a 1oz gold Krugerrand, but pass around one of the gold-colored US dollar coins as a proxy for it.) I'm not sure what to pass around for things like BTC, BCH, and Monero.

Maybe for cryptocurrencies generally I'll just pass around a piece of paper with a (fake) wallet key on it. I dunno.
