Steven_MHi All. :-) Do the vulnerabilities recently found in OpenSSL versions 3.0.0 to 3.0.6 affect Monero or any other crypto-currency?
-
TorrSteven_M: It could
-
TorrDepends if your Monero binaries were compiled against it.
-
hycofficial binaries don't use it
-
hyc"any other cryptocurrency" - you'll have to ask in any other place but here
-
Steven_Mhyc: Torr: Okay, thanks both of you. :-)
-
TorrCheers
-
Steven_MMy next question is: Is Monero 0.18.0.0-release still supported and safe to use, for the next week or so? I plan to upgrade soon, but would rather not do it immediately.
-
TorrSteven_M: Again, depends on the binaries u're using. Many distros link to Openssl.
-
selstaSteven_M: yes, you can use v0.18.0.0 or newer
-
Steven_MTorr: I'm using the official binaries from get.monero.org. My 2nd question wasn't really OpenSSL specific, it was more about the fact that Monero 0.18.1.2 has been released and I'm still using 0.18.0.0. Sorry for the confusion.
-
TorrOh, nevermind me then.
-
Steven_MTorr: So, putting OpenSSL aside, is Monero 0.18.0.0-release still supported and safe to use for the time being?
-
TorrPretty much my lad.
-
Mochi101omg Steven_M, you're going to blow up the whole Monero ecosystem if you use that version.
-
Steven_MTorr: cool, thanks :-)
-
Steven_MMochi101: No need to be sarcastic, I was just checking.
-
Mochi101:)
-
Mochi101Oh I forgot this wasn't #monroe-pools
-
Steven_MMochi101: Okay :-)
-
TorrSee ya folks
