QuickBASIC
It's finally my favorite time of year. Cool enough to turn off AC and warm enough to keep heat off. I've got excess solar power to burn and a stack of laptops and mini PCs that are otherwise unprofitable. An extra 20 kh/s with no power from the grid. Anyone else build their solar array too big?
-
Mochi101
QuickBASIC, mine is too big during the "winter" months. Summer months I'm not so sure though.
-
Mochi101
QuickBASIC, normally we cook with gas stoves here but I'm using electric burners during this time when I have excess solar power generation.
-
QuickBASIC
Mochi101 I wish I still had gas, but I moved to an area without it and my land isn't big enough to install large tanks. But winter is great because less sun but more solar efficiency at lower temperatures plus not running the AC means I'm producing about 10kwh extra a day.
-
Mochi101
QuickBASIC, how big is your array?
-
Mochi101
Mine is 6.4kw
-
Mochi101
Easily 30kwh per day extra...
-
QuickBASIC
I'm pretty sure mine is like 14kw (35 x 400w panels). I'm not too smart on the solar stuff. It's barely enough to run the AC in the summer here in FL and way too much for heating in winter.
-
Mochi101
QuickBASIC, what type of AC unit do you have?
-
Mochi101
I run my AC no problem.
-
QuickBASIC
IDK big. Central AC for a 3200 sqft house? American houses are huge.
-
Mochi101
But it's only 12000 BTU. It's a 22 SEER mini split type. I chose something super efficient and with an inverter type compressor because I am off grid.
-
Mochi101
Ahhh... yeah the big old central AC.
-
Mochi101
rough
-
QuickBASIC
Pretty common where I'm at... What do you use window units?
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> You guys up north need so much power!
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> I have like 6 x 400W panels (totally offgrid, Have to burn the surplus into xmrig most of the time)
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> No AC needed
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> I disconnected the grid like 2 years ago, Never ran out of power (I have like a LiFoPo4 pack with a mere ~9KWh of storage)

I ran fully off-grid for 3 weeks after the last hurricane. Had an extension cord running out the garage for neighbors to charge their phones haha. On grid solar operation is pretty much required in FL inside the city limits. Hard to get PTO otherwise. I have net metering so they pay me for my excess so there's that.
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> Here net metering is soo scammy.
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> (they don't pay when it go negative)
-
m-relay
<gfdshygti53:monero.social> So I have to burn the surplus instead (lifepo4 don't like to be at 100% from 1am to 6pm)
-

<gfdshygti53:monero.social> My setup is calibrated exactly so I have enough power during hurricane season
-
QuickBASIC
Net metering here is great. They're legally required to pay me the retail rate, but the system can't be sized more than 115% usage. I ran my miners for 6 months straight to increase my perceived usage so I could get a bigger system, but it means I gotta burn excess power when my credit gets too high or I might get in trouble with the power company lol. (Because they'll have to cut me a check.)
-
QuickBASIC
I have like a $1200 billing credit that should cover my AC needs for next summer, so I'm mining to keep my grid usage close to 0.

andrey8ezkaro
Hello every one, I'm syncing my node on testnet and Iit stucked on 80.7%. Is this should be like that?
-
QuickBASIC
How long has it been stuck?
-
QuickBASIC
You could always add --block-sync-size 10 to the startup flags so it fetches blocks in smaller batches if it's choking with the default.
-
QuickBASIC
If you're seeing any errors like "Failed to query m_blocks" your block chain might be corrupt.
-
QuickBASIC

andrey8ezkaro
Actually is didn't stop, just downloads very slow
-
andrey8ezkaro
Thanks, i will try to add the parameter
-
andrey8ezkaro
And what this log could mean 'Synced 1915418/2372455 (80%, 457037 left, 0% of total synced, estimated 2.7 days left)'?
-
andrey8ezkaro
I mean, what 0% of total could mean
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Post full `status`
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> 0% means youve synced 0% of the remaining blocks since you started the node
-
QuickBASIC
0% of the blocks that needed to be synced on daemon launch I think.

QuickBASIC
Are you syncing to spinning disk or SSD?

Is there a telegram channel to discuss issues? :)
-
gingeropolous
andrey8ezkaro, not that I know of.
-

u can also try adding a priority node or exclusive node. xmrchain explorer has testnet daemon going. 176.9.0.187
-
andrey8ezkaro
Could restricted rpc be related to the long syncing?
-
m-relay
<123bob123:matrix.org> Ports open?
-

<123bob123:matrix.org> 0 in
-
rbrunner
Most probably not. And there are only few machines on testnet in the first place, not many around to stress your machine
-
rbrunner
There were times where testnet blocks were fuller than usual which slows down syncing considerably comparing with the mostly empty blocks that are there
-
rbrunner
Yup, over 150 transactions for a testnet block is *very* unusual:
testnet.xmrchain.com/search?value=1917067
-
rbrunner
Maybe that was a time where somebody made a stress test, or needed a lot of transactions for some stastistical tests
-
rbrunner
I would say as long as it does not completely halt syncing be patient, sit back, and enjoy the show :)

Should i launch a wallet rpc server to connect to it?
-
rbrunner
Maybe that was the time when somebody tried to break my TechWallet by overloading it, asking it to produce more and more transactions, before I put in some limiting
-
andrey8ezkaro
I'm using monero-ts in my app. With restricted rpc, I can connect to the daemon rpc by replacing original 28081 port to the one which specified in .conf.
-
andrey8ezkaro
But what with wallet rpc. What port is used?
