m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> Also can you adjust the website so that it's easier to do swaps through localmonero? Like doing I want to buy BTC with XMR and then showing up vendors who are willing to do the swap for how much would be cool
-
m-relay
<alex:agoradesk.com> Isn't this
localmonero.co/sell-monero-using-cryptocurrency-with-btc what you're asking for?
-
m-relay
<5m5z3q888q5prxkg:chat.lightnovel-dungeon.de> That's what i am using but it doesn't show how much XMR it will cost:

<basses:matrix.org> (MyMonero)
-
m-relay
<ayaansoni:monero.social> rando: what's the use of this? Sorry if it's a stupid question lol, I'm new to these things.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> I didn't follow the mymonero story. Why is it hated so much ?
-
nioCat
because it has your view keys, the more people that use it the more view keys they have
-
m-relay
<ravfx:xmr.mx> Afaik, untrusted backend, they have your view key
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> Isn't it the whole concept of MyMonero and LWS ?
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> to have your view key so you don't sync ?
-
m-relay
<ravfx:xmr.mx> LWS can be self hosted or hosted on a trusted provider
-
nioCat
so that it is listed on the getmonero site is questioned by some people
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> ah ok that's fair
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> still don't deserve the ofrnxmr treatment but questionable that's for sure
-
m-relay
<ravfx:xmr.mx> The problem with mymonero is : Can you verify that they are not leaking the view keys to a third party?
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> Yeah, there is no way for the Monero Project to verify such. I agree it should be removed. or at least be warned about

m-relay
<gee:matrix.start9labs.com> Hopefully somebody can clear up my confusion about the RPC interfaces available to be enabled in monerod.conf:
-
m-relay
<gee:matrix.start9labs.com> If I specify:
-
m-relay
<gee:matrix.start9labs.com> **rpc-bind-ip** and **rpc-bind-port**
-
m-relay
<gee:matrix.start9labs.com> And also specify:
-
m-relay
<gee:matrix.start9labs.com> **rpc-restricted-bind-ip** and **rpc-restricted-bind-port**
-
m-relay
<gee:matrix.start9labs.com> I get the RPC available at 2 interfaces on different ports, one allowed to make a privileged set of wallet RPC calls ("the unrestricted rpc") and also one with a restricted set of calls available ("the restricted rpc").
-
m-relay
<gee:matrix.start9labs.com> When I also attempt to set **rpc-login** credentials, it seems that now even the restricted RPC requires a username and password. Is there any way to set it up where I only require the user/pass for the unrestricted RPC?
-
m-relay
<gee:matrix.start9labs.com> It seems the answer is no. RPC credentials are either on or off for both interfaces.
-
DataHoarder
bind it locally and pass it via a reverse proxy that adds auth
-
DataHoarder
(or keep it just local)
-
m-relay
<gee:matrix.start9labs.com> It seems that in order to run the "wallet" rpc daemon, one needs to run a different program ([monero-wallet-rpc](
getmonero.dev/docs/interacting/monero-wallet-rpc-reference)). Does anybody have insight into the difference between what's available at the wallet rpc daemon's rpc port and the unrestricted RPC?
-
m-relay
<aa01matrix:matrix.org> a question: can anyone explain to me why XMR is going down so swiftly in these weeks?
-
m-relay
<dave.jp:matrix.org> Less demand
-
m-relay
<bruvton:matrix.org> I think it's a mix of the overall market situation and the delisting of xmr from some exchanges
-
BlueyHealer
I assumed it was because Kraken wants to delist it.
-
m-relay
<aa01matrix:matrix.org> none of you is worried for the "financial" part of this fact? I mean: loosing value?
-
nioCat
btc has also lost value, most have it seems
-
BlueyHealer
Last time it happened (after Binance) iirc it went back to normal. I don't have that much money in Monero so it does not have a big impact on me. I usually have little more than an upcoming payment.
-
SqueakyDouglas
Eventually it will stabilize once the de-listings are complete. It will be subject to less volatility once it is no longer available on centralized exchanges (in fact it is already one of the less volatile cryptocurrencies believe it or not). Atomic swaps, p2p, and decentralized exchanges are the future for real cryptocurrencies. I don't think Monero will make you rich but it will provide financial privacy into the future. Depends what y
-
SqueakyDouglas
ou care about more in my opinion.
-
sT0p
xmr is actually relatively stable since the drop februari
-
BlueyHealer
Cash does not make you rich, and it is king.
-
BlueyHealer
XMR similarly needs to just stay put.
-
m-relay
<bruvton:matrix.org> it is what it is
-
m-relay
<bruvton:matrix.org> I can't really do anything about it
-
sT0p
I was looking at the github page of the monero project and it seems to me it's morry worrysome the contributions are less frequent than a few years ago
-
sT0p
I don't worry so much about the price, but I hope the community keeps attracting talented people that help out
-
great_taste
it could die due to lack of interest
-
BlueyHealer
Don't think so - it would not be this fast then.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> That is because a few years ago, the current Seraphis workforce were dedicated to monero core
-
m-relay
<nobfg9000:matrix.org> i have a 1.5k hashrate, should I solo mine or p2pool
-
m-relay
<nobfg9000:matrix.org> pretty sure that means I have a 20% chance of mining a block annually
-
m-relay
<termox:matrix.org> I guess you mean 1.5 K/s use p2pool mini. By using the "--mini" flag
-
m-relay
<termox:matrix.org> > <@nobfg9000:matrix.org> i have a 1.5k hashrate, should I solo mine or p2pool

<nobfg9000:matrix.org> ye
-
m-relay
<nobfg9000:matrix.org> thats what I usually do but its not as fun
-
m-relay
<nobfg9000:matrix.org> also you have to merge the payouts which are already small, and that costs fees
-
nioCat
20% chance means avg 5 years and maybe 20 yrs 0_o
-
m-relay
<martin.monero:matrix.org> is it cheaper than Kraken?

<syntheticbird:monero.social> This is often the most expensive way
