m-relay<dufebo98:monero.social> if the GFW great firewall begins blocking monero connections, what can we do?
-
m-relay<copenhagen_bram:matrix.org> traditional methods of bypassing GFW will have to suffice?
-
m-relay<copenhagen_bram:matrix.org> xray, or maybe tor snowflake/webtunnel bridges
-
m-relay<copenhagen_bram:matrix.org> How well do tor bridges bypass the gfw nowadays?
-
m-relay<mmonero:matrix.org> if I only want to swap btc <-> xmr, is there any difference to using basicswap or unstoppableswap?
-
NorrinRaddmmonero bsx: you can go either direction. on US, makers have 1 currency. takers have the other. on the flip side, bsx requires you to run nodes of both chains.
-
m-relay<milas900:matrix.org> I was trying to test multiple wallets but none of them makes any sense
-
m-relay<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> norrinradd, you can use remote monero node
-
m-relay<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> but yea, rest is accurate. you can be a maker on bitcoin or monero side. US you can only be a maker on monero side
-
m-relay<milas900:matrix.org> What defi ur referring to
-
m-relay<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> basicswapdex
-
m-relay<milas900:matrix.org> So you can stake xmr there ?
-
NorrinRaddit's an exchange
-
NorrinRaddyou could always check their website to read more about them

m-relay<trapo:matrix.org> Hey guys
-
m-relay<trapo:matrix.org> I'm new here, I've known Monero for a while now (getting to 2 years) but I just got my GUI wallet up and running because I just got my first laptop
-
m-relay<trapo:matrix.org> Since I got Monero running and found out Monero got a community, I had to join!
-
m-relay<trapo:matrix.org> Anyone got tips on what to do when the GUI wallet is up and running aside me receiving and sending?
-
m-relay<null:unsilence.net> Welcome!
-
m-relay<trapo:matrix.org> Appreciate the welcome
-
m-relay<null:unsilence.net> You could try mining? XMRig + P2Pool is the normal way to start earning a little bit I think
-
m-relay<trapo:matrix.org> I'm using a core i3 machine tho'
-
m-relay<17lifers:matrix.org> every hash is a vote
-
m-relay<17lifers:matrix.org> :3
-
m-relay<blueman88:matrix.org> stack wallet or cake wallet for android? which can I actually trust? does anyone have any experience w them
-
m-relay<blueman88:matrix.org> cakewallet looks commercialized
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> actually both are commercialized, but cake wallet have more partners features
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> I'm leaning towards Stack Wallet because it has integrated tor support and faster syncing over onion nodes than Cake Wallet
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> but Cake Wallet have nice features for bitcoin users
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> and also background sync
-
m-relay<blueman88:matrix.org> I kept seeing ads of people using cake wallet to exchange btc for dominos gift cards and it killed my boner
-
m-relay<blueman88:matrix.org> ill try stack wallet, thank you
-
plowsofAnonero is also available. As is Monfluo (a maintained fork of mysu) - these are monero only wallets
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> warning: These wallets are monero only, more stable in this purpose but also don't have an UI as polished
-
m-relay<321bob321:monero.social> Stack has a nicer keypad unlock then cake
-
m-relay<blueman88:matrix.org> not using coingecko to evaluate coins is considered icognito I guess
-
m-relay<blueman88:matrix.org> I hate bisq
-
m-relay<blueman88:matrix.org> wont let me transfer btc to stackwallet
-
m-relay<carbon12011:matrix.org> How about LWS compatible wallets?
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> There are, at my great displeasure, none
-
m-relay<carbon12011:matrix.org> Which is the best one with internal Tor integration
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> well. the only one with Tor integration right now is Stack Wallet. All other wallets needs you to run Tor in another way and expose the proxy interface. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, SethForPrivacy just told me 4 hours ago on twitter that Tor integration in cake wallet is coming soon: x.com/sethforprivacy/status/1925678901830807805
-
m-relay<carbon12011:matrix.org> Has anyone tried PiNodeXMR? Does it allow you to edit the conf file? I want to specify the --proxy option to run monerod entirely over tor
-
m-relay<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Edge (spyware) and mymonero (barely functional)
-
m-relay<carbon12011:matrix.org> It seems like stack wallet uses clearnet by default and Tor must be toggled on every time you open the wallet
-
m-relay<trapo:matrix.org> Can I mine with a core i3 machine?
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> nah
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> iirc if you have one node configured to Tor-only traffic, it will enable tor at boot
-
m-relay<carbon12011:matrix.org> Would you test that if you have it on hand
-
m-relay<syntheticbird:monero.social> sorry I can't right now but could in an hour or two
-
m-relay<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i remember it started tor automatically
-
m-relay<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> (setting was persistent)
-
m-relay<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> I didnt check latest version
-
nioc<trapo:matrix.org> Can I mine with a core i3 machine? <<>> you can but a laptop i3 will get you very little and it might be hard on your laptop
-
niocalso if you pay for electricity then most likely it will cost more than what you receive
