getmonero.org/downloads/hashes.txt has a line for "monero-source-v0.18.4.2.tar.bz2" file, but it is nowhere to be found, the checksum of the source code tarball on github doesn't match with the provided sha256
-
L29Ah
where can i find it?
-
L29Ah
also, is there a way to find hashes of older releases or, better, gpg signature files for the release tarballs themselves, to simplify automated signature verification? i maintain the gentoo package, and it doesn't check the signatures yet
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> L29Ah: The source tarball on github is not the one we use
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> L29Ah: Hashes of older releases are all in the commit history of monero-site, the hashes.txt file
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> And in the gitian.sigs repo

-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> why did monero price shoot up like crazy?
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> fcmp makes people excited
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> and thats good because even less traceability :D
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> ah yes i am very excited too
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> yes
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> also why does it say on mining pool stats qubic 0% hash or is it just a bug?
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> not the most trustworthy website ever
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> anyone can add their api and then send random values
-
Sindy
qubic bots have been quiet
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> ah i didnt know that
-
Sindy
like literally super quiet
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> well i wont trust it then for the most accurate numbers
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> go to the pools' websites themselves
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> ok will do thanks
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> Sindy: wdym?
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> compared to hashvault website
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh>

-
Sindy
johnyjr: usually they'd be trashing monero through bots
-
Sindy
but like
-
Sindy
they've been very quiet
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> and like
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> so like a hundered hashrate diffrence
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> miningpoolstats also got 0.00h/s pools
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> lol
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> oh lol
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> maybe they scared now after the update
-
Sindy
also their coin is not doing so good
-
Sindy
it's been going down and down and down
-
Sindy
and the hype is dying
-
Sindy
they're desperate for more hype
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> then our hype is increasing
-
br-m
<17lifers:mikuplushfarm.ovh> yey qubic sinking
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> i have seen that its not looking good for qubic just to put it simply
-
br-m
<angled:matrix.angled.rip> Sindy: I suspect that's why they started reorging again temporarily
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> what will CARROT do for monero?
-
br-m
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @johnyjr:matrix.org: What will you do for a carrot?
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> i dont like carrots
-
br-m
<anotherone:xmr.se> @johnyjr:matrix.org: carrots make your skin look healthy
-
br-m
<anotherone:xmr.se> you should start liking carrots
-
br-m
<anotherone:xmr.se> like right now
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> i like tomatos
-
Sindy
angled: it's pathetic
-
Sindy
they'll die out once monero gets some protection against reorgs
-
Sindy
even a temporary band-aid like DNS checkpoints
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> who is angled?
-
Sindy
@angled:matrix.angled.rip
-
br-m
<johnyjr:matrix.org> ok
-
br-m
<angled:matrix.angled.rip> yeah it is > <Sindy> angled: it's pathetic
-
br-m
<angled:matrix.angled.rip> Sindy: when is this planned to happen? or has it died out?
-
Sindy
PR still in progress
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> The problem with the dns checkpoints is that we have a problem with checkpoint related reorg handling
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> So, while the pr is largely complete, we cant use the checkpoints unless we fix the reorg handling (or we risk getting nodes stuck)
-
br-m
<barthman132:matrix.org> Qubic turns on and off their pool, if they’re not in marathon > <@johnyjr:matrix.org> also why does it say on mining pool stats qubic 0% hash or is it just a bug?
-
br-m
<alexandre:uii.pt> also it's self reported so... worth what it's worth
-
DataHoarder
23:09:39 <br-m> <alexandre:uii.pt> also it's self reported so... worth what it's worth
-
DataHoarder
it can be tracked, usually accurate
-
Sindy
i need to make my own pool
-
Sindy
and report 69 TH/s
-
Sindy
to promote myself :3
-
DataHoarder
reminder I track "block equivalent weighted hashrate" here
blocks.p2pool.observer/pools
-
br-m
<barthman132:matrix.org> I believe Qubic intentionally turns off and on their pool to artificially lower the difficulty and as such the network hashrate isn’t perfectly accurate to judge how much hashrate their is mining monero.
-
DataHoarder
but you can exactly tell how much they have.
-
DataHoarder
you don't need to believe - it's in their code, and they mine qubic directly during those phases
-
DataHoarder
> artificially lower the difficulty
-
DataHoarder
they'd need to turn it off 100%
-
DataHoarder
not 50%
-
br-m
<alexandre:uii.pt> how can you know? each pool adds some sort of metadata? or they have one address that does all the mining?
-
Sindy
qubic revealed their view key
-
Sindy
which lets you figure out which blocks belong to them
-
DataHoarder
yes, but also you can inspect their own mining
-
br-m
<alexandre:uii.pt> Sindy: is there anything technical where they have to share the view key? what prevents them from hiding?
-
Sindy
nothing
-
Sindy
they voluntarily gave up their view key
-
Core4646
hi
-
br-m
<barthman132:matrix.org> DataHoarder: They do pretty much turn off 100% for about half an hour per hour.
-
DataHoarder
yes, but for difficulty to do its thing they'd need to turn off for an entire day
-
DataHoarder
they do 676 of their ticks
-
DataHoarder
and 676+2 of qubic ticks
-
DataHoarder
the tick duration is not set so sometimes it's more/less
-
DataHoarder
this was done as while mining monero they don't mine qubic
-
DataHoarder
-
DataHoarder

br-m
<barthman132:matrix.org> Ah I see thanks for the correction
