<aadniz:kantan.cat> Websites that accept monero payment usually has some kind of way to generate addresses on the fly. I assume they are using subaddresses for that.
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> But what is usually the process for cleaning up all these dangling subaddresses after some time has passed?
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> It would be kind of strange to have thousands of subaddresses laying around that has accumulated over time?
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> It just generate more and more. I think the limit is virtually unlimited.
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> The program don't care, it just create a new one each time..

<eddie:oblak.be> you're going to pay relatively high fees

br-m
<eddie:oblak.be> poloniex also works, last time I checked
-
br-m
<yokoama:matrix.org> @eddie:oblak.be: scamiex

<eddie:oblak.be> i don't use it much, but when I did it worked.

<eddie:oblak.be> Never used it with visa or so though, just crypto -> crypto

<eddie:oblak.be> I see. It's been ages I used it.

<gogo2464:matrix.org> @eddi

br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> @eddie:oblak.be crypto to crypto is less expensive than visa to crypto ?
-
br-m
<eddie:oblak.be> yes, much
-
br-m
<eddie:oblak.be> You will always pay (hefty) fees here and there, but the way I would do it is buy DAI (preferably on an L2 for less fees) using a wire transfer with some on-ramp
-
br-m
<eddie:oblak.be> then swap the DAI for Monero using trocador or retoswap or smth

<aadniz:kantan.cat> I tried mining on stagenet on remote node stagenet.xmr-tw.org:38081 but it didn't seem like I got any blocks. Previously I used stagenet.xmr.ditatompel.com:38089 which worked for mining, but that is currently down. I don't want to set up a local node since it takes up so many gigabytes, I just want to have a bit to test with that is more than 0.01 XMR.
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> Do you guys know what remote daemon supports mining? How do I even check for that?
-
plowsof
is this one of those videos where the neighbour knocks and asks for the new wifi password but instead someone changed their unrestricted node to restricted?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Did you mine with start_mining?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> If so, rofl
-
br-m
<assholeorangecat:matrix.org> @aadniz:kantan.cat: what is your goal? apparently most have it disabled but there are some commands you can check it with. If you goal is just to get some testnet monero you can try a faucet.
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> My goal is to test some code when a XMR donation is a bit large
-
br-m
<assholeorangecat:matrix.org> @aadniz:kantan.cat: Sorry I don't really understand what you mean
-
plowsof
just explain to the code that 0.01xmr is a bit large
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @aadniz:kantan.cat: --regtest 🧠
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> But alright, thanks for the info
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> Actually, the stagenet network doesn't seem to be working right now...
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> I tried with all online nodes from xmr.ditatompel.com/remote-nodes
-
plowsof
aadniz explain what steps you want to recreate
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> Set up a wallet on the stagenet and try to deposit from
cypherfaucet.com/xmr-stagenet or
stagenet-faucet.xmr-tw.org to your wallet.
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> Do you have any success with that?
-

node3.monerodves.org:38089 Height: 2106482/2106482 (100.0%) on stagenet, not mining, net hash 6.98 kH/s, v16, 12(out)+43(in) connections

plowsof
node3.monerodevs.org:38089 rather
-
plowsof
you need to add the "--stagenet" flag (or wallet mode) depending what wallet you are using
-
plowsof
ask in #monero-support
-
br-m
<aadniz:kantan.cat> I'm pretty sure I have all the stagenet flags set, this worked all well yesterday
