Covid posts should be considered off-topic in r/Monero just like religion posts are. They only create heat and no light.
-
plowsof[m]
If we all want to get along with each other, do not mention Religion, Politics, Covid ... or Stickers !
-
Rucknium[m]
The irony is Automod is set to strike down most submissions mercilessly, yet these ^ types of posts are allowed through.
-
carrington[m]
Thanks Keiji once again for stepping up. I'm unsure if I will be available for the meeting, but I shall find out ASAP. It looks like there is a wave of excellent CCS proposals!

Rucknium[m]: Will discuss it with the other moderators

dEBRUYNE
Last few threads the conversation has digressed wildly

u/MikeDoesEverything did some sleuthing: the Covid post is from a reposting bot or human:

which software is best for monero mining

brownrose[m]

brownrose[m]
can you send me a tutorial link
-
BusyBoredom[m]
Mine on a smaller pool to prevent centralization if you can.
-
BusyBoredom[m]
Google XMRig and you'll see plenty of resources

brownrose[m]
<sethsimmons> "
sethforprivacy.com/guide" <- i have followed the tutorial
-
brownrose[m]
it says time to reward 13 hrs can i take breaks
-
sethsimmons
Of course
-
sethsimmons
Will just take longer to receive a reward
-
sethsimmons
You're only paid for the time you spend hashing, of course.
-
brownrose[m]
so 5 + 5 + 3 is equivalent to 13 hr straight
-
brownrose[m]
after 13 hrs how much can i expect to earn
-
plowsof[m]
How long is a piece of string? it depends on alot of factors, there are profitability calculators online though where you can input your cpu and cost of electricity for an estimate
-
brownrose[m]
my house is solar powered so electricity is not issue
-
plowsof[m]
-
brownrose[m]
0.16 USD / Day without electricity bill
-
brownrose[m]
<plowsof[m]> "
nicehash.com/profita" <- is this site based on monero
-
plowsof[m]
Yes, it's based on hash rate for 'randomX' algorithm which monero uses... im going to guess you will make 10 cents or less in 13 hours
-
brownrose[m]
plowsof[m]: so it not profitable in normal hardware
-
BusyBoredom[m]
It's probably not worth buying hardware for, but if you already have hardware and your electricity is cheap (or free) it's worth it.
-
brownrose[m]
ten cents per day is too little
-
brownrose[m]
can i run mining in raspberry pi
-
sethsimmons
lol
-
sethsimmons
Wouldn't we all love millions of dollars a day for doing nothing
-
sethsimmons
You get paid according to your work
-
sethsimmons
A Pi will do nothing, don't even try.
-
sethsimmons
If you already have hardware and solar, it's literally free money without KYC etc.
-
sethsimmons
10c a day of digital cash straight to your wallet is amazing
-
BusyBoredom[m]
$36/year, you get a free valentines day dinner every year for nothing.
-
brownrose[m]
okay tell me is 5+5 hour is equivalent to 10hr(without break)
-
sethsimmons
That is indeed how math works :P
-
sethsimmons
5 + 5 = 10
-
brownrose[m]
not the context
-
-
plowsof[m]
"fuck around and find out"
-
wfaressuissia
brownrose[m]: what hw do you have ?
-
sethsimmons
If you're hashing at the same rate
-
sethsimmons
Then you have the same number of hashes in 5 + 5hr as in 10hr straight.
-
brownrose[m]
time to reward is 13 hr can i take breaks
-
sethsimmons
It's simple math.
-
wfaressuissia
brownrose[m]: mining pool expects greedy miners in order to avoid cheating, so 5 + 5 < 10
-
wfaressuissia
s/avoid cheating/mitigate pool hoping by miners/
-
sethsimmons
Ah, yes, forgot about that to prevent miners from jumping to pools immediately after finding a block
-
wfaressuissia
solo mining allows breaks, but time to reward > 2 years for CPU with hashrate < 5.5KH/s
