whenever the next meeting is scheduled, I would like to add XMR.radio to the agenda. I took over monero.fm CCS which was already funded, but would like to adjust the terms.
-
ajs_[m]
I would like to form an LLC in Nevada for legal and tax purposes.
-
ajs_[m]
right now, the station's income and expenses are intermingled with my personal finances. I would prefer to segregate the accounts.
-
rottenwheel
<ajs_[m]> "whenever the next meeting is sch" <- Paging Keiji.
-
rottenwheel
Keiji whatever. Lol.
-
rottenwheel
ajs is doing lord's work with the radio; all my upvotes.
-
rottenwheel
Keiji I think it is safe to schedule a meeting for any Saturday at the usual time (1700 UTC), given DEFCON is in the books.
-
rottenwheel
There's no other upcoming event, not to my knowledge. People should be able to be around for it.
-
rottenwheel
Who's making the meta issues w/ the agenda? You?
-
Keiji[m]
Me and @bevanoff:matrix.org
-
rottenwheel
10-4. Feel free to ping me if either of you are busy or out of town to run it. Or any other help.
-
rottenwheel
Thanks for bringing them back; they've been missed.
-
rottenwheel
They are also useful, I reckon.
-
Keiji[m]
I can make agenda I think. Would need to know preference of when
-
Keiji[m]
I think maybe this Saturday is too short notice for people?
-
rottenwheel
Agreed. Maybe let's schedule it for next week, Sat. 1700 UTC.
-
Keiji[m]
So probably 21st
-
rottenwheel
Yup. 21/08/2021 1700 UTC.
-
rottenwheel
They used to be bi-weekly, every other Saturday.
-
rottenwheel
You can keep the tradition alive and keep that in mind moving forward, if you wish to.
-
Keiji[m]
21st is 4 weeks after last meeting so it works nicely
-
Keiji[m]
I will create the Meta Issue after work
-
rottenwheel
Yeah. I mean, skipping the one that fell on the same date at defcon was warranted.
-
rottenwheel
No big deal on that.
-
rottenwheel
Great. Appreciate it.
-
Keiji[m]
If @bevanoff:matrix.org you want to moderate, please let me know
-
Keiji[m]
Or @carrington:monero.social

The solution is to not care about politics and laws. Instead, defend your own freedom. Use PGP, Tor, Linux, custom ROMs for privacy. Use Monero and Bitcoin for finances. Buy peer-to-peer, from small businesses and agorist gray markets instead of state-regulated corporations. The state won't give you freedom, especially when you consider the past 1.5 years of increasing corona statism. You can only take back freedom yourself.
-
anarkiocrypto[m]
But I agree that "privacy only for people who I agree with" is bad, backdoored and not even privacy. It's just surveillance with privileged exceptions that they will also use against you, when the "people in control" change.

rottenwheel: the issue with the 'rights argument' is that not all rights are absolute (as i am finding out slowly unfortunately). there are direct stipulations from which they can be derogated from - which incidentally is what happened during the pandemic. a good link is here (in the notes section).
-
midipoet
-
ajs_[m]
that is correct. most rights can be limited under certain circumstances.
-
ErCiccione
yeah too many struggle to understand that or they are simply too selfish too care.
-
ajs_[m]
there are only like 4 which are considered absolute
-
ErCiccione
*to care
-
ajs_[m]
-
rottenwheel
<anarkiocrypto[m]> "The solution is to not care abou" <- +1. Always on point. Appreciate you.
-
rottenwheel
midipoet isn't that precisely what the author says in his piece though? That rights are kind of circumstantial...
-
rottenwheel
Lol, midipoet loves to be a contrarian. Just skim through again. He says the same thing, in different words.
-
rottenwheel
-
ErCiccione
Arguing with a conspiracy-theorist, that's gonna be fun. Grabbing pop corns. Good luck midipoet :)
-
ajs_[m]
"Privacy is a human right" is more rhetoric than a legal statement
-
rottenwheel
Fair statement.
-
anarkiocrypto[m]
Sadly the human rights bill is empty words written by the state (United Nations). No one follows it from experience. You can see for example the UN's website about statelessness and how KYC excludes people from basic necessities, but they don't do anything to solve this. UN humanitarian laissez passer passports used to exist, but not anymore, now only nation-states have authority to print passports. Also UN member states are
-
anarkiocrypto[m]
increasing KYC regulations (and surveillance) every year. United Nations doesn't care, EU doesn't care, it's all empty words.
-
ajs_[m]
yeah, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is aspirational and not directly enforceable against states
-
anarkiocrypto[m]
Anyway it's good that PGP, Monero, Tor, etc. is open source code that can't censor or ban you. No need to ask permission, just run the code and privacy is yours. Agorist gray markets are the permissionless equivalent for physical goods (food, rent, healthcare, etc.).
-
ajs_[m]
especially the large ones
-
ajs_[m]
to be honest, the whole human rights protection regime is BS
-
ajs_[m]
even where you have an enforcement mechanism like the European Court of Human Rights, states are fined a few thousand euros for violations.
-
ajs_[m]
chump change
-
anarkiocrypto[m]
Sadly the court is also owned by the state, the judges and lawyers are employed by the state, the laws are written by the state. You can't win against the state by using its system.
-
midipoet
rottenwheel: yeah, he does say that.
-
Inge
isn't this mostly about individualism vs collectivism, and layering on top different levels of corruption based on amongst other things, the size of the organization in question?
-
Keiji[m]
-
gingeropolous
You can't win against the state by using its system. >>> hence crypto
-
msvb-lab
ajs_[m]: The UDHR (human rights contract) is nice. Your opinion is probably correct, but some of us like to use the document as a blueprint regardless of how much enforcement works.

<Keiji[m]> "
github.com/monero-..." <- Awesome. Thanks. Are you on reddit?
-
rottenwheel
Would be helpful if someone posts the link in there, perhaps some time this weekend.

rottenwheel
I can do it if you are not on there.

My entire kingdom for Monerujo SideKick CCS.
-
rottenwheel
luigi1111w this is the type of CCS you should've merged without vetting.
-
rottenwheel
Not bullshit Tesla marketing stunt.
-
rottenwheel
<Keiji[m]> "
github.com/monero-..." <- Do you mind adding xmr.radio to the agenda items here? Likely just bake it into the workgroups.
-
luigi1111w
ok no vetting
-
crypto_grampy[m]
Imagine running Monerujo Sidekick on a Motorola Sidekick
-
-
anhdres[m]
crypto_grampy[m]: that would be the proper cyberpunk way of doing it
-
crypto_grampy[m]
Is it worth discussing monero-lws at the next meeting?
-
nikg83[m]
<crypto_grampy[m]> "Is it worth discussing monero-lw" <- Yes, it can improve user experience
-
SerHack
crypto_grampy[m]: absolutely

Added explicit ajs radio item. I will post on Reddit this weekend
