Hey, question, not sure if its appropriate to ask on this forum or not so if not just disregard no ill will meant..but I have been patiently waiting on a good entry price into xmr..wondering if this is a good time?
-
xmrscott[m]
Not really the room to ask. If you want to discuss pricing at length suggest asking here:
matrix.to/#/#monero-markets:monero.social

Thanks

fluffypony
has a bunch of Bitcoin wallets, and then (bizarrely) DeFi swap tools
-
fluffypony
no mention of Monero
-
xmrscott[m]
fluffypony: There was a long drawn out discussion on GitHub over CC maybe 4 years ago? Basically we asked they add Monero and one of the maintainers was concerned that people might think less of ZCash based on order, so I suggested just list in alpha desc and note the sorting method
-
xmrscott[m]
They opted just to remove the CC section entirely
-
fluffypony
lame
-
xmrscott[m]
I think the one protesting also once upon a time pushed some privacy scamcoin, I forget which, I'll try to dig up the conversation because hyc was part of it too

nioc
crypto is a ponzi
-
entry1[m]
nioc: Tether at $70b, what could go wrong?! 😂
-
xmrscott[m]
Yes, there's a lot of issues I guess w/ that new site around CC, namely referring to cryptocurrency as 'Crypto Tools' as if somehow messengers that encrypt messages at rest and in transit aren't crypto utilizing tools
-
xmrscott[m]
#CryptoMeansCryptography
-
fluffypony
actually you'll find that crypto means cryptozoology
-
xmrscott[m]
fluffypony: That repo seems to be only for privacyguides.org, not privacytools.io going by the repo link/description
-
fluffypony
xmrscott[m]: yes - privacytools GitHub repo is archived
-
xmrscott[m]
s/the repo/org
-
fluffypony
and they've moved to PrivacyGuides
-
fluffypony
they noted that
-
xmrscott[m]
Oh derp, I was looking at github activity as new as fresh as 12 days, man, that's a whole mess of .... things
-
fluffypony
yeah
-
xmrscott[m]
Why not just have privacytools.io redirect to privacyguides.org sigh
-
xmrscott[m]
Eh, whatever, I can open up a suggestion for Monero despite privacytools.io being 'archived' I guess if no one else wants to. Crazy that they point towards people using Bitcoin in this day and age despite US Dept of Treasury reports of tracking laundering, etc
-
fluffypony
yeah it's odd
-
sethsimmons
<xmrscott[m]> "Why not just have privacytools...." <- They split up after some drama, and are now two distinct things
-
sethsimmons
The community forked off to privacyguides, and the founder came back after a 1y+ disappearance to reclaim .io and start that up again
-
sethsimmons
It's a messy thing, but know that they're distinct now
-
fluffypony
sethsimmons: he's going to have to un-archive the repo, I guess
-
fluffypony
or just not have it open-source

Anyone have any ideas why this person thinks supply and block size ought to be limited?
-
sudo_ki[m]
To be honest, I can't believe folk like this live in the real world
-
atomfried[m]
the tail emision was a thing which i did not like at first, too.
-
atomfried[m]
For me what realy made it klick, was the thought that in an growing economy the number of products which can be bought increases and because of that the tail emision will not even be noticed
-
atomfried[m]
sorry i have problems formulating this property in english... it is not my native language
-
nioc
AIUI the other thing the tail emission does is allow the dynamic blocksize to work
-
sudo_ki[m]
When I think of bitcoin as anything other than digital cash, it becomes worthless and as digital cash, it doesn't really tick the boxes. My point being, as I cannot empathise with this person and I hoping someone here can and can enlighten me
-
ComplyLast
it's NgU technology
-
ComplyLast
you wouldn't understand sudo_ki[m]
-
ComplyLast
few understand.
-
carrington[m]
Sometimes when people say "Nothing I am going to say is going to make you understand", it is because they themselves don't understand
-
fluffypony
sudo_ki[m]: a limited supply is necessary for a cryptocurrency to be successful because it powers NgU, as ComplyLast explained, and without NgU nobody will use it
-
fluffypony
which is why nobody uses the US Dollar today
-
fluffypony
also you need a limited block size so that you can run a node on a 10 year old Raspberry Pi, instead of a 5 year old laptop
-
crypto_grampy[m]
Is there anything on the monero roadmap for NgU tech being added? Is there something that could be gleaned from the BTC codebase???
-
ComplyLast
there are several ideas being discussed crypto_grampy[m]
-
fluffypony
if Monero is removed from more exchanges then it will be harder to get, which makes it scarce, which in turn leads to NgU
-
crypto_grampy[m]
On a more serious note, are there any good i2p tutorials out there?
-
ComplyLast
i2p tutorials for what?
-
sudo_ki[m]
<ComplyLast> "you wouldn't understand sudo_ki..." <- Ah, so I'm stupid, rather than ignorant?
-
sudo_ki[m]
* Ah, so I'm stupid, rather than ignorant? ;)
-
ComplyLast
I wouldn't say that
-
ComplyLast
I'm just saying that few understand.
-
sudo_ki[m]
I'll take a look at this NgU business, thank you :)
-
ComplyLast
you're welcome
-
ComplyLast
as our prophet puts it: price is how we win.

sudo_ki[m]
Mind spelling out the acronym?
-
fluffypony
enn gee you

-
sudo_ki[m]
O dear, I had no idea
-
ComplyLast
yes, it was added on a recent soft-fork
-
ComplyLast
some people missed it
-
ComplyLast
they're debating between doing sigagg and implementing NgU v1
-
ComplyLast
NgU v1 won, but it didn't get a lot of publicity
-
DaveyJones
also we need some guy named Adam Forward as CEO of BlockFlow to implement NgU v2
-
ComplyLast
that was being discussed yesterday on #monero-research-lab
-
ComplyLast
NgU v2 will be deployed on Monero before any other chain
-
midnightmage[m]
Can’t believe people are still so hyped over surveillance coins
-
atomfried[m]
they always will, until they arent anymore
-
midnightmage[m]
Got to get the Monero before they wake up
-
mechanic41turk[m
<DaveyJones> "also we need some guy named Adam..." <- Don't forget getting the seed money from rothschild controlled banks
-
xmrscott[m]
<sethsimmons> "The community forked off to..." <- Thanks for the context. Still pretty funny that the .io dev can't be bothered to update the org description to *not* point to privacyguide
