The Fixed option sends the exact specified amount of Bitcoin/Litecoin/Dash for a 1% fee, which is necessary if you are paying an invoice. The Float option sends it at the current exchange rate (AFAIK at the time your Monero deposit is confirmed) for a 0.5% fee.

So, I wonder what will come of world currencies. I think there will be federated, permissioned systems used by many nations, and they will continue to exist alongside distributed crypto-currencies (which will exist anywhere with freedom of speech protections)

Government create demand for their currencies by requiring taxes and services to be paid in such currency

In a way you can see them as utility tokens, where they use will be relegated to interact with government chain for services and debts
