sgp_: Mind clarifying what the committee members do? I saw voice calls brought up but the "Voting Guide" page is unclear

Oh, got it, needed to browse a bit more :p
-
kayabaNerve
Thanks. Extremely interested in this and just was confused initially :)
-
sgp_
There's a lot of stuff there!
-
sgp_
Took a long time to make
-
kayabaNerve
Ha. I definitely know that ;) Happy to see it be here in front of us now
-
kayabaNerve
So voters don't vote on grants, they vote for the board, and they vote on grants?

chad[m]1
sgp_ @sgp_:monero.social: you mentioned MAGIC will use Discord, because "college kids use Discord", but was there really no other alternative? That closed source, centralized, privacy leaking, TOR blacklisting, chat program is so hard to use for someone looking to maintain their privacy. Besides, don't college kids tend to follow the money? Your program could be an incentive for them to leave Discord for a better tech.

We can set up the Discord <> Matrix bridge like what we have now, but we must actually meet people where they are
-
chad[m]1
Yeah, I see your point. I figured people would come to you, having the money and all, but I'm no expert in finding people ๐
-
bridgerton[m]
<eli> Can confirm that I can't login to Discord using TOR. But it works fine if I use LokiNet.
-
bridgerton[m]
* use LokiNet. Most likely an exit node blacklist.

<crypto_grampy[m]> "c..can they do that??" <- Do what?

crypto_grampy[m]
people can donate anonymously?

with monero???

Yup

Congratulations to us MAGIC enthusiasts and candidates for the first Monero fund donation sgp_.

And especially congratulations to the ones doing all the work, good job.

What's the procedure for merging a CCS proposal when there are no community meetings scheduled?
-
msvb-lab
Do you have advice luigi1111? Maybe I should schedule a mini meeting with three agenda items.
-
luigi1112
what 3 items?
-
msvb-mtx[m]
1-Introductions, 2-CCS, 3-Nextmeeting.
-
msvb-mtx[m]
Should I schedule this? Maybe we don't need an official meeting to qualify a single proposal?
-
nioc
"official"
-
plowsof[m]
crypto_grampy
-
plowsof[m]
Sometimes its nice to just schedule a time to talk to each other regardless of the topic โน๏ธ
-
msvb-mtx[m]
So plowsof should I schedule 1-Intro, 2-CCS, 3-General, 4-Nextmeeting. You would attend a meeting like this right? What day do you prefer, Saturday or Sunday?
-
plowsof[m]
More chance for me attending on Saturday. But a mini meeting could take place now? Os your main goal to get community feedback/support for the proposal? A thread on reddit is also good in combination (to spread the word wider) msvb-mtx
-
plowsof[m]
If it was up to me, id hand the events team a blank cheque from the general fund and wish you all the best of luck๐
-
anarkiocrypto[m]
-
msvb-lab
There are enough people with very nice (thank you) comments like yours plowsof[m] who want to advance this and similar proposals.
-
msvb-lab
If luigi1111 wants to merge it on that basis, then he has our permission.
-
msvb-lab
I'll schedule a 1 2 3 4 meeting next Saturday regardless.
-
luigi1111
proposals don't need community meetings. they do need engagement, but that can happen via any mechanism (as long as it filters back to the CCS MR)
-
msvb-lab
The pluja proposal looks equally interesting, and was created just a couple days before our TNABC event request.
-
msvb-lab
luigi1111: Three of the four TNABC participants have already commented on the MR, as well as a longterm Moneron. I'll see about getting more comments regardless, but a few like plowsof[m] have been pronounced without recording on the MR.
-
plowsof[m]
I think a normal Community Workgroup Meeting (this saturday?) The 'ccs updates' section should also include feedback on the recent 'ideas' (including plujas proposal and the TNABC one) ? To generate some feedback. Pluja also made a reddit thread and was featured in monero.observer (again, more eyes on it) maybe a good suggestion before the planned meeting
-
plowsof[m]
Which msvb has already done / appeared on monero observer xd
-
plowsof[m]
(just missing a reddit thread?)
-
msvb-lab
Good suggestions.
-
plowsof[m]
IMO the events team , ( who appear in public, and spread the word of monero under their real identities ) are invaluable, even more so for this privacy centered. Thank you !
-
plowsof[m]
* privacy centered -community. Thank
-
msvb-lab
I agree, especially the ones planning Monerokon right now. Excellent work.

I see a lot of faces who are regulars here who have not applied to be a voter yet. Go do that:

>Until a fix is released, we strongly recommend not to perform any multisignature transaction unless all signing parties can be trusted. If all signing parties cannot be trusted, no transaction should be attempted. Funds are not at risk if they are not moved and if the wallet-creation process was not abused.

wow nice work man
-
TomGUN
donno why I dig this design
-
msvb-lab
The design on Observer is always first class. I hope they speak at one of the next events how the system works, if it scrapes information automated or is manually edited.
-
escapethe3ra[m]
msvb-lab: no automation, it's all manual work
-
msvb-lab
I can imagine the quality is so high partly because of the manual attention.
-
msvb-lab
I was almost hoping for the answer 'total automation' because it would imply easy sustaining of the site even when human stress is applied.
-
crypto_grampy[m]
i love the monero.observer site. it's such a good example of what can be done without a shitload of js
-
crypto_grampy[m]
> goes back to writing a shitload of shitty js
-
crypto_grampy[m]
i think many would be interested in using monero.observer for their self-hosted blogging platform if you ever want to go down that route
-
crypto_grampy[m]
not sure if the code is already out there or not
-
msvb-lab
crypto_grampy[m]: The messages are so well organised a RSS format would be great, for parsing by a third party blog wouldn't it?
-
escapethe3ra[m]
I use Jekyll, the same SSG as Getmonero.org uses, as I'm very familiar with the system. I will probably publish the code soon, in case I die or something.

sgp_ @sgp_:monero.social: can/should people be encouraged to apply to be a MAGIC voter as well as a committee member? Or just choose one or the other?
-
carrington[m]
100% recommend the use of Monero observer's RSS feeds to everyone
-
sgp_
carrington[m]: Definitely apply to be a voter, and be a committee candidate also if you are interested in that commitment
