I think we mostly just focus on monero. It's like a quiet "may the best project win" kind of relationship. Bitcoin and monero are independent projects, so it's not like they can really hurt us or anything.

antares80: hey, author of MM here. Regarding the internals of Monero, a suggested resource is Zero To Monero (available freely as a PDF) that explores deeply all the cryptographic tools used in Monero (and provide further references for readers that want to explore cryptography in deep).
