This is true, but the other way round. Value of everything is based on trust, including XMR. Go to zero means 100% loss of trust.

for that the steps are basically

try to contact the proposer and see if it's really abandoned (if no success then we assume yes after a period of time)

do the work and get it approved/reviewed (translation work)

get paid

cant the original proposer just say they completed it and cause a bunch of drama that way
