liliana914[m]
Is anybody on here familiar with Alphabay website
-
liliana914[m]
i have a new issue
-
liliana914[m]
😅
-
liliana914[m]
I’m having a hard time figuring out how to pay vendor. It’s not clear how to copy his address to my Monero-wallet-gui or if I’m suppose to transfer money to wallet on alphabay
-
liliana914[m]
I’ve tried for about an hour so I’m not being lazy
-
-
ofrnxmr[m]
:P
-
liliana914[m]
It’s updated to latest version
-
liliana914[m]
which is 18
-
liliana914[m]
So, I don’t get it
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Yeah, im just happy to see alphabay notifying their users
-
ofrnxmr[m]
-
liliana914[m]
ofrnxmr: I can’t access that website from regular internet. Think I have to do it through tor?
-
liliana914[m]
Anyway it shouldn’t be this difficult to figure out. I’m pretty smart but this shit is like rocket science 😂
-
ofrnxmr[m]
🤔 just what alphabay were you on? Lol
-
liliana914[m]
Come on, as if you you didn’t know
-
liliana914[m]
😉
-
ofrnxmr[m]
I sent the link to alphabay
-
liliana914[m]
Oh, cool
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Its an onion. It only works in tor
-
liliana914[m]
lets see what they do
-
ofrnxmr[m]
You load your wallet on alphabay first
-
liliana914[m]
well, that’s the question. How?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
-
liliana914[m]
They’re not making it user friendly
-
ofrnxmr[m]
-
ofrnxmr[m]
This is how
-
liliana914[m]
I’ll check when I’m off my. Flight. Can’t get on tor now
-
liliana914[m]
thanks!
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Np
-
liliana914[m]
But you are saying I can load my Monero-wallet-gui on Alphabay?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
No.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Just like an exchange, alphabay had a wallet tied to your account
-
ofrnxmr[m]
You deposit funds on alphabay aka send a transfer from gui > your alphabay deposit address
-
liliana914[m]
Well, I don’t know how to load that wallet from my Monero wallet. I looked and nothing pops out
-
ofrnxmr[m]
🤔
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Get off your flight and read the instructions
-
liliana914[m]
or put money in Alphabay wallet from Monero wallet
-
liliana914[m]
ok!
-
ofrnxmr[m]
If you've ever used an exchange before, the only difference is the deposit address is 1 time use
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Dont send more than one transfer there
-
liliana914[m]
Yes
-
liliana914[m]
i have never used an exchange
-
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Is this your first time using monero?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Or crypto?
-
liliana914[m]
Yeah, I clicked on that but it wasn’t clear on how to put funds in there from my Monero wallet. I’ll look again. Thank you for your time. It’s appreciated
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Yeah, after the 'long disclaimer is a button to generate the address
-
liliana914[m]
Ok, then you copy to Monero?
-
-
liliana914[m]
wallet
-
liliana914[m]
Oh, ok. Well, that looks familiar but I was afraid to follow through because I’m not sure about anything I’m doing on this website
-
liliana914[m]
So, once address is generated I should easily be able to copy to Monero wallet?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Yeah, send a monero from gui > that address
-
ofrnxmr[m]
s/a//
-
liliana914[m]
ok, I’ll
-

ofrnxmr[m]: 52 tabs cuh

-
liliana914[m]
How do I copy key from the Alphabay website. It generated one but I can’t figure how to copy and paste to Monero walletofrnxmr
-
liliana914[m]
I’m on a Mac pro computer and it doesn’t seem to just let me copy in the usual manner
-
merope
This is not an Alphabay support channel, nobody here will actually assist you in making (almost certainly illegal) purchases there
-
liliana914[m]
Ah, nothing like real freedom
-
liliana914[m]
endor00: you know I don’t think I like your judgment. You’re way off base and you don’t know me
-
merope
This has nothing to do with freedom, I am pointing out the topic of this chatroom. I am not judging you in any way. I do not need to know you, I just know what goes on Alphabay.
-
spacekitty420[m4
most likely a psyop anyways, just sayin o.o

Ayanami[m]
Hello, anyone noticed that the network fee is high?
-
Ayanami[m]
Maybe someone spamming the network? What is happening?
-
plowsof
Set fee to low instead of automatic in the GUI
-
monerobull[m]
Since when?
-
Ayanami[m]
monerobull[m]: Today, see
xmrchain.net/txpool there is like 766 pending transactions
-
monerobull[m]
Lmao what
-
monerobull[m]
I see it too
-
monerobull[m]
1.8k pending 30 min ago
-
Ayanami[m]
Some crazy spammer would like to manipulate the network I guess
-
Ayanami[m]
Good for miners they would earn some tx fees
-
monerobull[m]
Looks cool on my dashboard
-
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And just like that, cleared out?
-
plowsof
Monerobull "my" dashboard wen "our"?
-
plowsof
Or do i have to learn how to use grafana with the json api plugin
-
monerobull[m]
plowsof: I learned how to export it today
-
monerobull[m]
So you'll just load it in
-
plowsof
Nice!
-
monerobull[m]
I am not sure if you need the monerod that comes with the docker image or if you can use your own
-
monerobull[m]
For the sake of simplicity the tutorial will assume you will use the included node
-
monerobull[m]
Maybe a short separate one that shows how to copy the Blockchain to the right place
-
monerobull[m]
If you already have one
-
monerobull[m]
I'll try to make it this week
-
TrasherDK[m]
monerobull: How about something that is not dockerized for a change?
-
monerobull[m]
<TrasherDK[m]> "monerobull: How about something..." <- Sorry, I'm not the dev behind this, just using what's available
-
TrasherDK[m]
Too bad. No docker on my platform ☹️
-
DataHoarder
afaik you can use podman as a replacement for docker there
-
ofrnxmr[m]
The software that made this tx definitely didn't use the default decoy selection algo:

Aka computers with wifi antennae physically removed
-
spacekitty420[m4
everything can be a wifi antenna tho :3
-
spacekitty420[m4
any component with some copper? boom, wifi antenna o.o
-
RavFX[m]
spacekitty420[m4: Need local access to carry theses atteck usually, plus the "wifi" range of that kind of attack is quite low. Protect local area.
-
r4v3r23[m]
<merope> "Aka computers with wifi antennae..." <- phones on airplane mode will do for most
-
r4v3r23[m]
then theres shit like pinephone w/ killswitches
-
spacekitty420[m4
it's like, all dem youtubers shilling "to protecc against h4ck3rs u gotta use the sponsored vpn"
-
spacekitty420[m4
but never they be like "secure your unused networking ports, usb ports" and such
-
spacekitty420[m4
like, isnt there a saying or somethin that in most cases the husband is actually the killer or somethin?
-
spacekitty420[m4
like shit, there was even that thing with the raspberry pi in the fucking closet LOL
-
merope
Lol, some phones don't even turn off their transmitters on airplane mode
-
r4v3r23[m]
proof? they have to. thats the point of airplane mode
-
merope
<spacekitty420[m4> "any component with some copper..." <- Not necessarily the right frequency and/or enough power though
-
spacekitty420[m4
merope: none does, hence why they using more battery when set in a faraday cage even with airplane mode, cause they trying to increase the range of those transmitters and such
-
merope
Though there's this israeli security researcher that has come up with dozens of data exfiltration methods from airgapped computers (and written paper after paper detailing them all)
-
spacekitty420[m4
right, mentionned the spinning fans earlier but that's fucking insane how many of those methods there are
-
r4v3r23[m]
still more secure than trezor/ledger
-
spacekitty420[m4
i wouldnt bet money on that tbh :/

plowsof: So someone has mindlessly mined 25 blocks on the old chain?
-
DanIsnotthemanBr
Curious do the contributors to xmr worry about what happened to tornadocash happen to them?as in being tracked down?or they have strategies to protect them.
-
sech1
Rucknium[m] It's miningpoolhub, 9 MH/s
-
sech1
-
sech1
"We are investingating issues in the backend. Your shares and hashrate are safe and we will fix things ASAP."
-
sech1
wow :D
-
monerobull[m]
sech1: Yeah sure hashrate is safu
-
sech1
hmm, they seem to have found only 1/4th of blocks on the old chain, so total hashrate should be around 30-40 MH/s there
-
monerobull[m]
The rest could be masterless bots
-
monerobull[m]
So much hash...
-
dscotese[m]
I have been using Monerujo and one of the transactions I made was confirmed in a block which was apparently part of the wrong side of the hard fork. I suppose the devs for the wallet should examine the issue, but I joined the room in case it's something that others might want to know about. The fork had blocks in it from 2688902 to 2688911 which were apparently mined over about 40 hours. The solution was to stop using the
-
dscotese[m]
remote nodes that received their last block more than an hour ago (ultimately, to start running your own node, but that takes a while to download) and connect to a node listed at monero.fail.
-
spacekitty420[m4
damn, 30 - 40 Mh/s, that's about same hashrate on wownero :O
-
dscotese[m]
My local copy of the blockchain grew by 263 million bytes in the last 9 hours. My Internet speed is WAY faster than 0.5MB per minute. Is there a list of things I should check to optimize the speed of my sync?
-
bridgerton[m]
<Darks> Open port
-
bridgerton[m]
<Darks> ?
-
bridgerton[m]
<Darks> Also I need help if anyone can
-
Rucknium[m]
dscotese: If you are syncing on a HDD rather than a SSD, it will be very slow
-
dscotese[m]
Rucknium[m]: Thanks. I'm syncing on a SSD.
-
Rucknium[m]
Also if you have a slow CPU
-
bridgerton[m]
<Darks> Wait wut
-
bridgerton[m]
<Darks> Why y’all got bot tags
-
bridgerton[m]
<Darks> Lol
-
Rucknium[m]
To us, it is you who has the bot tag
-
spacekitty420[m4
cause it's the matrix
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Because youre on some other service and were on the main one
-
bridgerton[m]
<Darks> Lol
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Flamethrowerrrr to discorderzzz
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Sorry dscotese:
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Still trying to convert those millis into mbs
-
spacekitty420[m4
ofrnxmr[m]: isnt irc technically the "main" one tho? :P
-
Rucknium[m]
I think the network is under heavy download/upload load since people are re-syncing bodes or syncing for the first time
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Nopeeee
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Might be the original, but we hard forked onto matrix
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And have backward compatibility for grampys peers
-
spacekitty420[m4
alrighty then, was main one when it was on freenode then but they changed to libera so now we the main one, got it :3
-
spacekitty420[m4
tho, most of MRL still over irc instead...
-
spacekitty420[m4
:hyperthonk:
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Commandlinerz
-
spacekitty420[m4
nah, hipsters boomers o.o
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Jk. I gave up trying to figure out libera on mobile though
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Need someone from libera side to create the community-dev channel
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And merge to matrix
-
spacekitty420[m4
but it's already bridged tho
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Not community-dev
-
spacekitty420[m4
like selsta and sech1 are on the irc side of comunity chan
-
spacekitty420[m4
oh
-
spacekitty420[m4
right but community dev be like just 50 people in it or so i think
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Its new :)
-
spacekitty420[m4
63 yeah
-
ofrnxmr[m]
But should be on libera as well
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Its a higher LCL chat
-
ofrnxmr[m]
dscotese:
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Are you able to type sync_info into monerod
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And see your download speed
-
ofrnxmr[m]
s/LCL/Lvl/
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Also try `print_net_stats`
-
ofrnxmr[m]
To view your average speeds
-
dscotese[m]
<Rucknium[m]> "Also if you have a slow CPU" <- I use `top` and see that monerod is never at the top (%CPU ordered). I remember doing something for Bitcoin to allow it to connect to more than 8 peers. Does monerod have such a limitation without some similar configuration change?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Sync info should show a list of peers, then below that, a list of downloaded blocks waiting in queue
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Not sure what monerod default peers are
-
ofrnxmr[m]
But you can type sync_info to see them....
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Or print_cn
-
ofrnxmr[m]
If you need to increase them
-
ofrnxmr[m]
`out_peers 100`
-
nioc
irc irc irc
-
spacekitty420[m4
u boomer hipster
-
nioc
my slow cpu and slow ssd does about 1.7 blocks/sec
-
nioc
does = syncs
-
Rucknium[m]
dscotese: `in_peers <max_number>` and `out_peers <max_number>`
-
Rucknium[m]
To change max number of peers
-
selsta
dscotese[m]: which OS and what hardware do you use? is it an external ssd?
-
nioc
my fast and fast does ~3.7 blocls/sec
-
ofrnxmr[m]
I think sync_info is best place to start.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
If no blocks in queue = bad connection
-
ofrnxmr[m]
If blocks in queue = slow verification or disk speed
-
nioc
these numbers are for more recent blocks, not from the beginning
-
dscotese[m]
<ofrnxmr[m]> "Also try `print_net_stats`" <- Yes, I see 7.66 KB/s, 0.09% of the 8MB/s limit. Also, `sync_info` shows most peers as "before_handshake" a few "normal" with a height of 1, and a few "synchronizing" with a height that is reasonably high, but all of them have 0 Queued Blocks and 0 MB.
-
selsta
can you post the output of "sync_info" to paste.debian.net ?
-
dscotese[m]
<selsta> "dscotese: which OS and what..." <- It's a "Beelink U Series" set up into a "BeFree" as described at
sovransystems.com and it has an internal 2TB SSD that I'm using.
-
dscotese[m]
And the OS is Manjaro Linux.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Ah
-
ofrnxmr[m]
2tb hdd
-
ofrnxmr[m]
256gb ssd

'Post sync_info pls

-
dscotese[m]

-
dscotese[m]
Don't out_peers try to get blocks from me instead of sending them to me? Maybe because I'm syncing they will send to me. I'm trying it...
-
ofrnxmr[m]
No, does both sending and receiving over both in and out
-
ofrnxmr[m]
The out vs in is just how the tunnel is made
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Whether you introduces yourself to them, or they introduced themself to you
-
ofrnxmr[m]
But sync_info... please and thanks
-
selsta
dscotese[m]: the link says 256gb ssd, did you manually change it?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Hard to diagnose without proper idea os what is going on
-
ofrnxmr[m]
256GB SSD, plus an additional internal 2TB HD)
-
ofrnxmr[m]
If using the HDD, you should have a long list of queued blocks
-
ofrnxmr[m]
... unless your internet is the issue, in which case that list should be short or nonexistent
-
ofrnxmr[m]
<selsta> "can you post the output of "sync..." <- So.... ^^ please and thanks
-
dscotese[m]
<selsta> "dscotese: the link says 256gb..." <- yes
-
dscotese[m]
<ofrnxmr[m]> "But sync_info... please and..." <- I have to figure out how to get the output into a file and then share it here or to pastebin. It'll have to wait till tomorrow.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
You can take a picture or screenshot if that works
-
ofrnxmr[m]
If opsec is a concern, clean the image and block out the IP's. Dont need them.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Just need to know whatvthe screen looks like in general
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And the speeds etc and size if queue etc
