that solar thing is useless if there really were blackouts. it fully depends on external apis and goes as far to wget simple svgs that could have been embedded into the code.

This is the pool that I spoke of, that mines on p2pool mini
-
ofrnxmr[m]
0% pool fee
-
ofrnxmr[m]
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Modified xmrig-proxy to calculate pplns for miners
-
ofrnxmr[m]
-
ofrnxmr[m]
They are the second largest miner on p2pool mini
-
Lovera[m]
<ofrnxmr[m]> "
github.com/gavinbarnard..." <- So people just need to run only a modified Miner (XMRig) they all connect to one instance p2pool node?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Modified Xmrig-proxy (p2pooler) to be run by the to-be pool admin
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Other miners connect as usual to p2pooler
-
Lovera[m]
Ok, but people are mining for the admin pool.. right? Why not just run GUPAX? 🤣
-
Lovera[m]
P2pool + xmrig
-
Lovera[m]
What is the exactly advantage of this?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Lower consolidation fees
-
ofrnxmr[m]
0.0002xmr payout with a 0.00004 tx fee, is quite the fee
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Also it lowers blockchain weight
-
ofrnxmr[m]
... I havent done the math on the weight, but in theory it should as it doesnt require each user to consolidate many small outputs.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
0.04 xmr block reward for aterx
-
ofrnxmr[m]
If users dont take payouts until 0.04xmr, it doesnt multiply the number of create outputs
-
ofrnxmr[m]
So yeah. If users agent taking payout immediately, blockchain growth is slowed by pool mining on top of p2pool
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Btw. Just using unmodified xmrig-proxy works fine as well, but you to find a way to calculate the payments for each miner.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
If you own all of the miners, you can just use xmrig-proxy
-
Lovera[m]
Well I don’t see problems there to be honest, I mean, How large your payment is will be determined by the amount of shares you have in the PPLNS window.
-
Lovera[m]
The real decentralization is p2pool + xmrig… I’m curious what are the throughs of this sech1
-
Lovera[m]
I recently saw a user promoting a “decentralized Monero Pool”... he told everyone that they mined in p2pool with all its benefits, but how real is this? If you don’t run your p2pool node then it’s someone else’s hahsrate and not your
-
Lovera[m]
In addition, the boy apparently calculates payments manually…. This can lead to many scams.
-
ofrnxmr[m]
P2pooler doesnt calculate manually
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Xmrig-proxy requires you to calculate manually
-
ofrnxmr[m]
.00004 fee on a 0.0002 output is 20%
-
ofrnxmr[m]
P2pool is good, but what happens if your share is less than the tx fee? It burns xmr / makes it unspendable
-
sech1
the real fee is < 5% if you combine many outputs
-
sech1
how stupid are people
-
sech1
instead of spawning another p2pool chain with bigger minimum payout, they create just another regular pool
-
ofrnxmr[m]
:p I only have 1 share tho sech :( jk
-
sech1
1 in/2 out transaction fee is 0.00003
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Yeah, seems to be whats going on. But isnt it the same thing said for the top miner on the pool
-
sech1
not 4
-
ofrnxmr[m]
3064, yep
-
sech1
it's 10-12% of the minimal payout, if you spend it directly on something
-
sech1
but you usually combine many outputs and then the fee is < 5%
-
Lovera[m]
Have many outputs it’s good 😎
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Still heavy though (?)
-
sech1
if people really wanted 0.003 min payout on p2pool, they could just spawn another p2pool with 0.6/0.003 = 200 PPLNS window size
-
ofrnxmr[m]
~194 outputs = 100kb, no?
-
ofrnxmr[m]
How difficult it that? Just a matter of changing the config file?
-
sech1
yes
-
sech1
./p2pool --config your_config

nioc
there was recently a paper showing how the more lightening is used the less private it is

nope, its all off the shelf hardware. Raspberry PI4, 3" HDMI screen, and the mashine is controlled over pin headers, likely uart
-
nioc
looking for link
-
ceetee[m]
you'd need to have a good base machine to modify if you want to build something similiar
-
chesterfield[m]
Looks like vending machines use something called mdb protocol
-
chesterfield[m]
Wonder if there is a cheap tabletop machine on Ali express that uses the same protocol as the big ones
-
nioc
seems that I didn't save the paper
-
ceetee[m]
Oh yeah, he even mentioned mdb. I'm still half asleep, lol. I can research a not tonight and see if I can find something
-
ceetee[m]
Any specific requirements chesterfield?
-
ceetee[m]
or just as cheap as possible
-
chesterfield[m]
Exactly that, but should also be compatible with the big ones
-
chesterfield[m]
It looks like someone made a commercially available mdb hat for raspberry pi at one point
-
chesterfield[m]
Not sure that’s necessary though
-
ceetee[m]
i' ll look into that as well
-
chesterfield[m]
Being able to use an rpi or small linux comp would be pretty important
-
chesterfield[m]
If that example above uses btcpayserver it can probably be modified to accept xmr though 😳
-
aiophwageoj
Hi all;
-
aiophwageoj
I was just thinking a bunch: first of all *NEVER DO YOUR OWN SECURITY* and these are just ideas but would love if I could have someone helping me think.
-
aiophwageoj
I figured, all the software that one might use to generate a cold offline paper wallet might be written in a malicious manner that ditches out a specific form of phrase for the wallet, so an attacker (the malicious author of the tool) can steal ones funds
-
aiophwageoj
the big argument against this is open-source, which indeed is true, but it is not 100%. I looked at the code that is used in the guide in the getmonero.org's paper wallet tutorial and it is terribly bloated (1000s of lines that don't contribute to generating the seeds).
-
sech1
If you don't trust any software, throw a dice enough times to generate your private spend key
-
aiophwageoj
What if we made a system to do the *entire* seed generation on paper. A decision tree that one can parse through with a simple 6 sided dice and generates a seed from that: very possible it seems. But, then we have the last word being a checksum (am I correct). I also wonder if it is (realistically) possible to go to the viewkey from the seed words?
-
aiophwageoj
is there any existing protocol for that, which you know of @sech1?
-
sech1
just what I said
-
sech1
no, just throw a dice and do some math
-
sech1
it will require ~100 throws to get 256 bits of entropy
-
sech1
or you can throw 2 dices 50 times
-
aiophwageoj
i see, how does that calculation work?
-
aiophwageoj
eg, how do you find how much entropy a dice roll generates
-
sech1
write down the results of each throw as a base-6 number, convert it to hex and feed into monero-wallet-cli
-
sech1
a dice roll generates log2(6) bits of entropy
-
sech1
6^100 > 2^256, so 100 rolls will be enough
-
aiophwageoj
i see that makes a lot of sense
-
aiophwageoj
and do you happen to know how the checksum works? is it just the last word of the seed?
-
sech1
checksum of 25 word seed?
-
sech1
it's just one of the words repeated
-
aiophwageoj
oh i see
-
sech1
there's no checksum when you enter the raw 256-bit spend key
-
aiophwageoj
ah alright
-
aiophwageoj
thank you, this is really cool, super exciting stuff, thanks for the help
-
aiophwageoj
im reading zero to monero atm, love it :D

Hi guys. I'm happy to report that basically, after two months of activity, when trading with Trocador.app you have a 0,05% to 0,15% chance of having your transaction flagged by exchanges. But even when flagged, we can intervene to help you deal with the exchange so your transaction is either completed or you are refunded without KYC. We currently have no reported case of a custumer having to go through KYC process.
