Hello! I cant get Monero GUI to start. I have an appimage file that doesnt start.

Also cli wallet gives error.

it's a tails bug but you can use this workaround

I am getting ever so often 'connection refused for myIP port X' lines in the terminal..is there a known solution for this, too?

Possibly for this reason the GUI wallet hangs at 'Starting the node', and does not show the current balance.

I think the main issue is that it cannot connect, whether from the terminal or wallet: 'Error: Couldn't connect to daemon: 127.0.0.1:18081'

What could be the alternative IP/port if I wanted to change it using 'set_daemon' command?

yes, pidof monerod shows a number

in the earlier times of Monero, it was just peanuts to use it even for newcomers. Now I am effectively wrestling with it.

My cli is synced, but gui wallet does not sync with it.

What command did you use to start monerod

yes, it is this one:

DNS_PUBLIC=tcp TORSOCKS_ALLOW_INBOUND=1 torsocks ./monerod --p2p-bind-ip 127.0.0.1 --no-igd --rpc-bind-ip 127.0.0.1 --data-dir /somepath/

Why are you using the dns and torsocks flags?

I dont use tails, but isnt everything on tails already torrified

You might need the dns flag, but id assume you wouldnt need the torsocks flag (?). Again, not sure, but sounds right

RPC bind ip and p2p bind ip shouldn't be necessart either. Those are the default values

I ran the command removing all params that you mentioned as redundant, and this line just appeared:

' W WARNING: no two valid DNS TXT records were received'

'W Unable to send transaction(s), no available connections'

That error can be ignored

Personally, I just use settings > node > remote node > add

I tried with a few of the hosts in sync_info output..still no syncing of gui wallet.

Maybe someone in #feather:monero.social knows how to run monerod on tails + connect a wallet to it from the same machine
