Aside from that, most wallets aside from GUI have "good" remote nodes preconfigured

( compelte list ) =>
monero.fail

ofrnxmr[m]
If you want to try to find s bad node, monero.fail
-
ofrnxmr[m]
i wouldnt tell someone to grab a node from .fail unless i was an asshole

* =>
monero.fail (also list bad nodes)

While a lot of those nodes are submit by good people, a lot of them are nodes you cant trust
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And nodes.monero.com recommends c3pool node
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Those assholes dont updatr block templates
-
ofrnxmr[m]
D(nt use nodes of miners that dont give a shit about mining transactions
-
ofrnxmr[m]
rino node is good
-
someoneelse49549
yeah rino's nodes are probably the best someone can get
-
ofrnxmr[m]
My actual recommendation is to use featherwallets list IF you need good nodes
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Stack wallets is very fast as well
-
someoneelse49549
I only had sync issues with Stack wallet
-
someoneelse49549
I trued 5 times on 5 different versions and I'm stuck at syncing around 95%
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Cake runs an onion node, as does trocador
-
someoneelse49549
s/trued/tried/

ofrnxmr[m]
someoneelse49549: I was going to add "but not in stack"
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Stacks sync bug seems to have been fixed in later versions. Still really slow to show sync progress or to finish the sync and update ui

i think BusyBoredom uses a free arm vps from oracle still?
-
plowsof11
docs.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/Content/…ier_topic-Always_Free_Resources.htm - Busy confirmed recently they still use it, but ill wait for an update
-
plowsof11
i mean, don't use free things.. support merchants who accept Monero
-
ofrnxmr[m]
Imma open an acct
-
ofrnxmr[m]
And tell them i wanna pay xmr for it "but its free??", ok, lemme pay xmr for the paid tier "no", fine, ill just run a monero node for free then
-
ofrnxmr[m]
"... fuck you, ofrn" thank you for supporting xmr, oracle
-
BusyBoredom[m]
Yep I still use oracle's free tier ARM VPS, haven't had any issues. Its a minor pain to set up, but worth it. You get 4 cores, 24GB RAM and 200GB storage for free.

MilkFantasy[m]
<BusyBoredom[m]> "Yep I still use oracle's free..." <- for a year tho OwO right?
-
BusyBoredom[m]
Nope, indefinitely! It is the free "tier", not the free "trial".
-
BusyBoredom[m]
I've been using for well over a year now
-
MilkFantasy[m]
BusyBoredom[m]: why am i paying for a vps then xD
-
MilkFantasy[m]
last time i requested a vps from oracle they never gave me one OwO

<BusyBoredom[m]> "Yep I still use oracle's free..." <- Do they allow running nodes?
-
BusyBoredom[m]
Mine has been running for over a year and they haven't shut me down yet
-
BusyBoredom[m]
I don't know if its technically allowed, but it's definitely not enforced in any case
-
DanIsnotthemanBr
Would have to look at t&cs
-
BusyBoredom[m]
Terms and suggestions :P
